The Whisper of the Wind (Assigned Quest) — Monster Hunter: World Walkthrough
The Whisper of the Wind Assigned Quest becomes available through various in-game activities and progression markers. These include discovering and capturing monsters across low, high, and master ranks, completing prior Optional quests, and engaging with villagers. Fully researching monsters and hunting tempered monsters also contribute to unlocking this quest.
To unlock this quest, you need to meet several criteria:
- Monster Discoveries: Finding monsters in low, high, and master rank each contribute separately.
- Monster Captures: Capturing monsters in low, high, and master rank also counts towards progression.
- Villager Interactions: Talking to Villagers with a '(!)' in Astera, Research Base, or Seliana can unlock new quests.
- Optional Quest Completion: Completing previous Optional quests is often a prerequisite.
- Rare Encounters: Randomly available Rare encounters, which last for 2 quests and then disappear, can also play a role.
- Monster Research: Fully researching monsters (all tabs in the monster manual) is important.
- Tempered Monster Hunts: Hunting a certain number of different tempered monsters. Quests or investigations with more than one tempered target only register the first listed.
- Assigned Quest Progress: Your current progress level for Assigned Quests directly influences when this quest becomes available.
After completing a quest, you will return to Astera. There, you can take your loot to the Smithy to begin forging weapons and armor. If you cannot make the full set immediately, consider visiting the investigation team to do extra quests, or you can continue with your next assigned quest.
