Enemy lords and marshals lead powerful armies, often composed of high-tier troops. Defeating them requires a combination of good troop composition, battlefield tactics, and personal combat skill. Marshals, in particular, command the largest and most dangerous armies.

Strategy:
- Scout Ahead: Use your Spotting and Pathfinding skills (or a companion with them) to determine the enemy's army composition and size before engaging.
- Troop Composition: A balanced army with a strong infantry line, reliable archers, and effective cavalry is usually best. Counter the enemy's strengths; if they have many cavalry, bring more spearmen.
- Battlefield Tactics: Utilize terrain to your advantage. Find a hill for your archers, or a choke point for your infantry. Use commands (F1-F7) to position your troops.
- Target Priority: Focus your archers on enemy cavalry or archers first. Engage their infantry with your own.
- Personal Combat: As the player, you are a force multiplier. Target enemy archers, flank their infantry, or engage their lord directly to break morale. A well-placed charge with a couched lance can instantly kill a lord.
- Morale Management: Killing enemy lords, standard bearers, and routing their cavalry significantly lowers enemy morale, leading to a quicker victory.
Always ensure your troops are well-equipped and have high morale before engaging a powerful lord. Retreat if the odds are too stacked against you.
