Strategy:

  1. Garrison Management: Maintain a strong garrison of high-tier troops in your fiefs. Archers and crossbowmen are particularly effective on walls.
  2. Reinforcements: If you see an enemy army approaching, try to gather your own army and any allied lords to reinforce the garrison before the siege begins.
  3. The Defense:
    • Archers on Walls: Position your archers and crossbowmen on the walls to rain down fire on the attacking force.
    • Infantry at Choke Points: Place your strongest infantry at the top of ladders or at the gate to hold the line.
    • Player Role: You can fight on the walls, defend the gate, or provide ranged support. Focus on eliminating enemy siege engineers or key attacking units.
    • Morale: Killing many attackers or holding the line for a long time will eventually break the enemy's morale, causing them to retreat.
  4. Counter-Attack: If the enemy retreats, you can sally forth with your remaining garrison and chase them down on the world map for a decisive victory.

Defending a well-garrisoned and fortified fief can be much easier than attacking one. Use the terrain and your defensive structures to maximize your advantage.
