Heavy Objects

Moving heavy objects in Moving Out presents a unique set of challenges that test teamwork and strategic planning. Items like the imposing Piano or the bulky Sofa require more than one F.A.R.T. member to lift and maneuver effectively. Attempting to move these alone will result in slow, cumbersome movement, if movement is possible at all. The game's physics engine accurately reflects their weight, making them difficult to push or pull without assistance. coordinate their efforts, often using a synchronized 'lift' action to hoist these items. Once lifted, carrying them requires careful navigation through doorways, around corners, and down stairs. Dropping a heavy object can cause damage to the item itself or the surrounding environment, potentially leading to mission failure or lost time. Some levels may even feature obstacles that can only be overcome by using the combined weight of multiple players and a heavy item, such as pressing down on a pressure plate. The effective management of heavy objects is crucial for efficient level completion and earning those coveted gold medals.

Key considerations for heavy objects:

  • Player Count: Most heavy items require at least two players to lift. Some extremely large items might even benefit from three or four.
  • Maneuverability: Heavy objects are slow and have a wide turning radius. Plan your routes carefully to avoid getting stuck.
  • Environmental Hazards: Be mindful of stairs, narrow passages, and breakable elements that can hinder or complicate the transport of heavy items.
  • Throwing: Heavy objects cannot be thrown effectively. They must be carried or pushed/pulled.

Effective strategies for handling heavy items include:

  • Two-Player Lift: Position two players on opposite sides of the object and press the desated 'lift' button simultaneously.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Once lifted, You can push or pull the object. Maintain consistent pressure for smooth movement.
  • Ramping: Utilize ramps or inclines to help move heavy items, especially when going up or down stairs.
  • Clearing the Path: Before attempting to move a heavy object, ensure the path is clear of smaller obstacles that could impede progress.
