The harsh desert environment of Sandrock is a character in itself, presenting unique challenges and opportunities for Builders. Understanding the weather patterns and potential environmental hazards is crucial for survival and efficient resource gathering. While Sandrock doesn't experience traditional rain or snow, it is subject to sandstorms, heatwaves, and the occasional meteor shower, each impacting gameplay in distinct ways.

Sandstorms

Sandstorms are perhaps the most common environmental hazard. They sificantly reduce visibility, making navigation difficult and increasing the chance of encountering aggressive creatures. During a sandstorm, gathering resources outside the safety of the town or your workshop becomes riskier. However, sandstorms also bring unique benefits. Certain rare ores and materials, like Scrap Iron and Copper Ore, are more likely to be found exposed or churned up during these events. Keep an eye on the sky; a darkening horizon and a change in wind sound are your cues to prepare.

Heatwaves

When the sun beats down relentlessly, Sandrock experiences heatwaves. During these periods, your Stamina will deplete much faster when outdoors. It's essential to stay hydrated by consuming plenty of water or food items that restore stamina. Seeking shade, returning to your workshop, or visiting air-conditioned buildings like the Commerce Center can help mitigate the effects. Some quests or events may even be time-sensitive and require you to brave the heat, so planning your activities and carrying ample stamina-restoring items is key.

Meteor Showers

Less frequent but potentially more rewarding, meteor showers can occur at night. These events see small meteorites raining down in specific areas outside of Sandrock. These meteorites often contain valuable resources, including rare metals and gems. However, they also pose a danger, as direct hits can cause damage. Players are advised to seek shelter or carefully observe the impact zones to collect the fallen debris safely. The sound of falling meteors and visual cues in the night sky will sal their arrival.

General Survival Tips

  • Always carry plenty of Water or stamina-restoring food items, especially when venturing far from town.
  • Keep an eye on the weather forecast, which is usually available on your Builder's Log or by talking to townsfolk.
  • Upgrade your tools and gear to improve your efficiency and survivability in harsh conditions.
  • Certain buffs from food or items can help mitigate the negative effects of weather, such as increased stamina regeneration or resistance to heat.
