Louise Boss Strategy
Facing Louise, a powerful Shade with a penchant for explosive attacks, requires a keen understanding of environmental hazards and precise evasion. This encounter typically takes place in the ruins of the Eastern Road, a location littered with explosive barrels and unstable structures. Louise's primary offensive threat comes from her Explosive Orbs, which she launches in volleys. These orbs detonate on impact or after a short delay, creating damaging area-of-effect explosions. The key to surviving this phase is to constantly be moving and utilizing the environment for cover. Ducking behind pillars or rubble can shield you from direct hits, but be mindful that sustained damage can destroy these cover points.
Louise also employs a devastating Seismic Slam, where she leaps into the air and crashes down, creating a shockwave that travels across the ground. This attack has a sificant wind-up, indicated by her rising into the air. The best counter is to perform a well-timed dodge roll just as she lands. If you are too close, the shockwave can still hit you, so maintaining a moderate distance is advisable. Another of her attacks is the Homing Missile Barrage, where she fires a series of smaller, faster projectiles that track your movement. These are best dealt with by rapid dodging or by using a defensive spell like Shield, which can absorb a limited amount of damage.
A crucial element of this fight is the strategic use of the Explosive Barrels scattered throughout the arena. If Louise is near one of these barrels when it explodes, she will take sificant damage and be staggered, creating a valuable opening for you to attack. You can intentionally lure her towards these barrels or even shoot them with your Bow to trigger their detonation. Be cautious, however, as you can also be caught in these explosions. Prioritize clearing out the smaller Shades that sometimes accompany Louise, as they can distract you and make dodging her more potent attacks difficult. Equipping a Word of Power that increases your Defense or provides a temporary shield upon taking damage can be beneficial. Remember to manage your HP and use Potions proactively, as the constant barrage of attacks can quickly deplete your health.
