Fishing Guide
Fishing in NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is a surprisingly deep and rewarding activity that can provide valuable resources, unique items, and even contribute to quest completion. To begin fishing, you'll need to acquire a fishing rod. The first one is typically obtained during a quest in the town of Seafront. Once you have the rod, head to any body of water large enough to cast into, such as the canals in Seafront or the lake near the Northern Plains. The fishing mechanic itself is a mini-game that requires timing and patience. You'll cast your line by holding down the cast button and releasing it at the desired strength. Once your lure hits the water, you'll need to wait for a fish to bite. A prompt will appear when a fish is interested, and you'll need to press the reel-in button to hook it. The challenge then lies in reeling the fish in without letting its tension meter fill up, which can cause it to break free. The tension meter increases when you pull too hard or when the fish struggles. You can alleviate tension by briefly releasing the reel-in button.
Different types of fish can be caught in various locations, and some are rarer than others. For instance, the "Hygiene" fish is commonly found in Seafront's canals, while rarer catches like the "Legendary Carp" might require specific bait or fishing in more secluded spots. Bait can be purchased from vendors or sometimes found as loot. Using the correct bait can sificantly increase your chances of catching specific fish. For example, using "Shrimp" as bait is highly effective for catching many of the larger, more desirable fish. Successfully catching fish can yield valuable items such as "Fish" that can be sold for a good amount of gold, or even crafting materials needed for weapon upgrades. Furthermore, certain quests, like those given by the Fisherman in Seafront, specifically require you to catch particular types of fish, making fishing an integral part of progressing through the game's narrative. Mastering the nuances of casting distance, reel-in timing, and bait selection will turn you into a true angler, capable of landing even the most elusive aquatic creatures in the world of NieR Replicant.
