Prologue: The Aerie & Yonah's Illness
Your journey begins in the desolate yet strangely beautiful Aerie, a precarious settlement perched high above the clouds. Here, you play as a young man desperately trying to protect his ailing sister, Yonah, from a mysterious and deadly disease known as the Black Scrawl. The opening moments are desed to introduce you to the core mechanics of movement and basic interaction within the game's world. You'll learn to navigate the environment, speak with NPCs, and understand the urgency of Yonah's condition.
The initial objective is to find medicine for Yonah. This involves venturing out of your small home and into the immediate surroundings of the Aerie. You'll encounter your first few enemies, the Shades, which are spectral beings that inhabit this world. Combat in this early stage is simple, focusing on basic attacks and dodging. Grimoire Weiss, the sentient book that becomes your constant companion, will offer guidance and introduce you to the concept of Magic. His initial spells are rudimentary but serve as a vital introduction to the magic system.
As you search for the medicine, you'll be guided by the game's UI, which highlights important objectives and interactive elements. Pay attention to the whispers and visual cues that hint at the presence of Shades. The first major combat encounter might involve a small group of Shades near the edge of the Aerie. Learning to manage your health, represented by the HP bar, and your MP (Magic Points) for spells is crucial from the outset. The medicine you seek is often found in a specific location, perhaps guarded by a slightly tougher Shade or hidden within a chest. Successfully acquiring the medicine and returning it to Yonah marks the end of the prologue and sets the stage for your larger quest to find a cure.
A common pitfall for new players is underestimating the early Shades or neglecting to utilize Grimoire Weiss's abilities. Even basic spells like the Magic Missile can sificantly aid in dispatching enemies quickly, conserving your health.
