Village Life & First Quests
Following the events in the Aerie, you and Yonah will find yourselves in the Village, a more established and bustling settlement. This area serves as your primary hub for a sificant portion of the early game, offering various services and introducing you to a wider cast of characters. The Village is where you'll begin to understand the societal structure of this world and the lingering fear of the Shades that permeates daily life.
Upon arriving, you'll be tasked with several initial quests that help you acclimate to the Village's routines and its inhabitants. These quests often involve simple fetch tasks or delivering items to specific NPCs. For example, you might be asked to find a lost item for the Grocer or deliver a message to the Blacksmith. Completing these early quests is essential not only for progressing the main story but also for earning gold and potentially unlocking new items or services from the various shopkeepers. The Village Blacksmith, in particular, is a crucial NPC for weapon upgrades, so visit him early and often.
Beyond the main story quests, the Village also offers numerous side quests. These optional tasks can provide valuable rewards, such as unique weapons, crafting materials like Iron, or even new spells for Grimoire Weiss. Engaging with side content is highly recommended, as it not only enriches the world-building but also provides opportunities to hone your combat skills and gather resources that will be invaluable later on. Keep an eye out for NPCs with blue exclamation marks above their heads, indicating they have a quest for you.
Interacting with the various shops in the Village is also key. The Item Shop sells essential consumables like health potions and MP recovery items. The Junk Shop might offer rare crafting materials or even unique weapons for purchase. Don't overlook the fishing mini-game, which can be a surprisingly lucrative way to earn gold and acquire rare fish that can be sold for a good price. Mastering the fishing mechanics early can provide a steady income stream for future upgrades and purchases.
