·Multi-source verified (73/74)

Boss: Emperor

The Emperor, in his true demonic form, is a multi-phase boss that demands precision, patience, and a solid understanding of his attack patterns. This fight will test everything you've learned so far. Ensure you are fully stocked on healing items before initiating this encounter.

Recommended Loadout

  • Weapon: Dragon Sword (True Dragon Sword if available). Its versatility and speed are crucial for dealing consistent damage.
  • Ninpo: Inferno. This will be your primary offensive Ninpo for its damage output and ability to interrupt some of the Emperor's attacks.
  • Items:
    • At least 3-4 Great Devil Elixirs
    • At least 5-6 Devil Elixirs
    • 1-2 Talismans of Rebirth (as a last resort)
    • Any remaining Spiritual Elixirs for Ninpo replenishment.

Phase 1: Ground Combat

The Emperor starts on the ground, utilizing powerful physical attacks and dark magic. Your goal here is to deplete his first health bar.

Attacks:

  • Ground Slam: He'll raise a fist and slam it down, creating a shockwave. Dodge roll away from this.
  • Dark Orb Barrage: He'll fire several homing dark orbs. Block these or continuously dodge roll.
  • Claw Swipe Combo: A series of wide, sweeping claw attacks. Block the first hits and then counter-attack.
  • Dark Beam: A charged beam of dark energy. This is heavily telegraphed; dodge to the side immediately.

Strategy:

  1. Stay Mobile: The Emperor's attacks are slow but powerful. Constant movement and dodge rolling are key to avoiding damage.
  2. Punish Openings: After his Ground Slam or Dark Beam, he'll be vulnerable for a brief moment. Use a quick combo like the Dragon Sword's XXY or XY to get a few hits in.
  3. Inferno Usage: When you have a clear opening and some distance, unleash an Inferno Ninpo. This can deal significant damage and often stuns him, allowing for follow-up attacks.
  4. Defensive Play: Don't get greedy. Block his Claw Swipe Combos and Dark Orb Barrages. Only attack when you're certain you won't be hit.
  5. Ultimate Techniques: If you manage to charge an Ultimate Technique (UT) with the Dragon Sword, unleash it after a successful dodge of a major attack for massive damage.

Phase 2: Aerial Assault

Once his first health bar is depleted, the Emperor will take to the air, becoming more agile and introducing new, ranged attacks. This phase is about forcing him back to the ground.

Attacks:

  • Dive Bomb: He'll fly high and then dive straight down at Ryu. Dodge roll to the side just as he descends.
  • Large Dark Orbs: He'll fire larger, slower-moving dark orbs that explode on impact. These can be blocked but are better avoided.
  • Lightning Bolts: He'll summon lightning bolts from above. Keep moving to avoid the targeted areas.
  • Wind Gust: He'll create a powerful gust of wind that pushes Ryu back, often followed by another attack. Block this if you can't dodge.

Strategy:

  1. Projectiles are Key: Your primary method of bringing him down is with ranged attacks. The Incendiary Shurikens or Explosive Arrows are excellent here. Aim for his head or chest.
  2. Inferno Again: A well-aimed Inferno Ninpo can still hit him in the air and knock him down, creating a brief window for ground attacks.
  3. Wall Attacks: If he flies close to a wall, a well-timed Flying Swallow (jump + X) can sometimes connect, but this is risky.
  4. Patience: This phase can be frustrating due to his evasiveness. Don't rush. Focus on dodging and landing a few projectiles or Ninpo hits when the opportunity arises.
  5. Ground Vulnerability: After taking enough damage in the air, he will temporarily fall to the ground, stunned. This is your chance to unleash your most powerful Dragon Sword combos and Ultimate Techniques. Maximize this opening!

Phase 3: Final Stand (Ground & Aerial Mix)

The Emperor will combine elements from both previous phases, becoming faster and more aggressive. He will alternate between ground and aerial forms more frequently. His attacks will also be enhanced.

New/Enhanced Attacks:

  • Faster Combos: His ground claw swipes will be quicker and harder to block perfectly.
  • Multiple Dark Beams: He might fire two or three Dark Beams in quick succession.
  • Explosive Dive Bomb: His dive bomb will now have a larger explosion radius on impact.
  • Summon Minions: Occasionally, he may summon a few weak fiends to distract you. Prioritize eliminating them quickly with area-of-effect attacks or a well-placed Ninpo.

Strategy:

  1. Adapt Quickly: Be ready to switch between ground combat tactics and aerial attack strategies.
  2. Conserve Ninpo: While Inferno is still effective, you might need to use Spiritual Elixirs to keep your Ninpo meter healthy for critical moments, especially when he's airborne.
  3. Health Management: This is where your Great Devil Elixirs come into play. Don't be afraid to use them if your health drops significantly. It's better to heal and stay in the fight than to die.
  4. Focus Fire: When he's on the ground and vulnerable, unleash everything you have. Charged Ultimate Techniques are incredibly effective.
  5. Exploit Stuns: Any time you stun him, whether from a powerful combo or Ninpo, capitalize immediately.
  6. Stay Calm: The Emperor's final phase can feel overwhelming. Maintain your focus, stick to your defensive and offensive patterns, and you will eventually prevail.

Defeating the Emperor marks the culmination of your journey. Good luck, Ninja!
