Ninja Gaiden Black features several puzzles that often require keen observation, item usage, and sometimes a bit of backtracking. This section will guide you through the most common and challenging puzzles you'll encounter on your journey as Ryu Hayabusa.
Chapter 2: The Hayabusa Village - Water Dragon Key
To progress past the locked gate in the Hayabusa Village, you'll need the Water Dragon Key. This puzzle involves a bit of exploration and a combat encounter.
- Objective: Obtain the Water Dragon Key.
- Location: Hayabusa Village, near the locked gate.
- Steps:
- From the locked gate, head towards the large statue of the Water Dragon.
- You'll notice a pedestal in front of the statue. Interact with it to initiate a challenge.
- A group of enemies will spawn. Defeat all of them to complete the challenge.
- Once the enemies are vanquished, the Water Dragon Key will appear on the pedestal.
- Collect the Water Dragon Key and use it to unlock the gate, opening the path forward.
Chapter 4: The Monastery - Statue Puzzle
Within the Monastery, you'll encounter a room with several statues and a locked door. Solving this puzzle requires interacting with the statues in a specific order.
- Objective: Unlock the door in the Statue Room.
- Location: Monastery, Statue Room (often found after the first major combat encounter in the Monastery).
- Strategy: The statues represent different elements or figures. The correct sequence is usually hinted at by environmental clues or subtle details on the statues themselves.
- Steps:
- Enter the Statue Room. Observe the statues carefully.
- The correct order to interact with them is typically: Fire Statue, Water Statue, Earth Statue, Wind Statue.
- Approach each statue and press the action button to interact with it in the specified order. A chime or visual cue will confirm a correct interaction.
- If you interact with a statue out of order, the puzzle will reset, and you'll need to start again.
- Upon successfully interacting with all four statues in the correct sequence, the locked door will open, granting you access to the next area.
Chapter 6: The Hidden Underground - Gear Puzzle
Deep within the Hidden Underground, you'll come across a mechanism that requires specific gears to activate. Finding these gears is key to progressing.
- Objective: Activate the large mechanism.
- Location: Hidden Underground, near the inactive mechanism.
- Items Needed:
- Small Gear: Often found in a nearby alcove or defeated enemy drop.
- Large Gear: Typically located in a separate, accessible chamber within the Hidden Underground, sometimes guarded by a mini-boss or a group of stronger enemies.
- Steps:
- Locate the inactive mechanism. Note the missing gear slots.
- Explore the immediate surrounding areas. The Small Gear is usually not far, perhaps in a destructible crate or a hidden corner.
- Once you have the Small Gear, return to the mechanism and place it in the appropriate slot.
- Now, venture deeper into the Hidden Underground. You'll need to navigate through more enemies and potentially a challenging platforming section to find the Large Gear.
- After acquiring the Large Gear, return to the mechanism and place it in its respective slot.
- With both gears in place, the mechanism will activate, often lowering a bridge or opening a previously inaccessible path.
