Walkthrough: Chapter 4: The Imperial City

Welcome to Chapter 4, Ninja. The Imperial City is a sprawling urban environment filled with new threats and opportunities. Prepare for intense combat and careful exploration.

Entering the Imperial City

After the cutscene, you'll find yourself in the Pleasure Street. Immediately head straight.
First Encounter: You'll be ambushed by a group of Black Spider Ninjas. These foes are agile and can throw shurikens. Focus on single targets, using Izuna Drop (X, Y, X, X, Y) for quick eliminations.
Once the initial group is dispatched, proceed down the street.
Item Alert: Look for a small alleyway to your left. At the end, you'll find a chest containing a Talisman of Rebirth. This invaluable item will automatically revive you once if your health drops to zero.
Continue along Pleasure Street until you reach a larger open area.

The Great Bridge and Plaza

You'll now be in the Great Bridge Plaza. Expect another wave of Black Spider Ninjas, often accompanied by a few larger, armored enemies. Prioritize the armored foes with strong attacks like the Flying Swallow (Jump + Y) or the Blade of Nirrti's heavy attacks.
After clearing the plaza, head towards the large bridge.
Save Point: Before crossing the bridge, locate the Dragon Statue to your right. Save your game and consider upgrading your weapons or purchasing healing items from Muramasa's shop if needed.
Cross the Great Bridge. Be wary, as more Black Spider Ninjas will likely appear as you traverse it.

The Monk's Gate and Beyond

Upon reaching the other side of the Great Bridge, you'll enter the area leading to the Monk's Gate.
New Enemy Type: You'll encounter the first of the "Ghost Fish" enemies here. These ethereal creatures are fast and can be difficult to hit. The best strategy is to use quick, wide-sweeping attacks or Ninpo like the Art of the Fire Wheels to clear them out.
Proceed through the Monk's Gate.
Exploration Tip: To your immediate left after passing through the gate, there's a small alcove. Check it for a hidden chest containing a Life of the Gods. Collecting nine of these will increase your maximum health.
Continue forward, navigating the winding streets of the Imperial City. You'll face more Black Spider Ninjas and Ghost Fish.

The Hidden Path to the Pagoda

Eventually, you'll reach a section with several interconnected courtyards. Look for a large, ornate building – this is your path towards the Pagoda.
Puzzle Element: You'll need to find a way to open a locked gate. Search the surrounding area for a lever or switch. It's often subtly placed on a wall or behind some debris.
Item Alert: In one of the courtyards, near a fountain, you'll find a chest containing a Devil Way Mushroom. This item restores a significant amount of Ninpo.
Once the gate is open, proceed through. You'll find yourself on a narrow path leading upwards.
Wall Run Challenge: This path will require some wall-running and jumping to navigate. Practice your wall-run-jump technique to avoid falling.
At the top, you'll reach the entrance to the next major area, signaling the end of the primary exploration for this chapter.

Remember to utilize your Ninpo, especially the Art of the Fire Wheels, for crowd control when facing multiple enemies. Keep an eye out for hidden items and always save your game at Dragon Statues. Good luck, Ninja!
