Walkthrough: Chapter 6: The Monastery
Welcome to the Monastery, a chapter that will test your platforming prowess as much as your combat skills. Prepare for tight corridors, challenging enemy encounters, and a few environmental puzzles. Keep your guard up, and remember that precise movement is key.
Monastery Entrance and Courtyard
- Initial Encounter: As you enter the Monastery, you'll immediately face a group of standard Ninjas. These are the same foes you've encountered before, so dispatch them efficiently using your preferred combos and Ninpo.
- Courtyard Exploration: After clearing the initial wave, head into the main courtyard. You'll notice a large, ornate door directly ahead, which is currently locked.
- Left Path: Take the path to your left. This leads to a smaller area with a few more Ninjas. Defeat them to secure the area.
- Item Acquisition: In this left-hand area, look for a small alcove or corner. You should find a Great Devil Elixir. This is a valuable healing item, so pick it up.
- Right Path: Now, proceed down the path to your right from the main courtyard. This leads to a set of stairs.
The Grand Hall and Puzzle
- Stairwell Ambush: As you ascend the stairs, be prepared for another ambush by Ninjas. Utilize wall attacks and aerial combos to control the crowd in the narrow space.
- Grand Hall Entrance: At the top of the stairs, you'll enter the Grand Hall. This is a large, open room with several exits and a central mechanism.
- First Statue: Directly in front of you, you'll see a statue holding a key item. Interact with it to obtain the Monastery Key (Right).
- Locked Door (Left): To your left, there's a locked door. This requires the Monastery Key (Left), which you don't have yet. Remember its location.
- Locked Door (Right): To your right, there's another locked door. This one requires the Monastery Key (Right) that you just acquired. Use it to open the door and proceed.
The Library and Second Key
- Library Access: Through the right-hand door, you'll find yourself in a dimly lit library. This area is often patrolled by more Ninjas, sometimes including the faster, red variants. Prioritize dodging and counter-attacking.
- Upper Level: Look for a way to reach the upper level of the library. This usually involves a series of wall runs and jumps. There might be a broken staircase or a gap you need to cross.
- Item on Upper Level: On the upper level, carefully navigate the ledges. You'll find a chest containing a Talisman of Rebirth. This is an extremely useful item that revives you with full health upon death, so save it for a tough boss or encounter.
- Second Statue: Continue exploring the upper level of the library. You'll eventually come across another statue, similar to the one in the Grand Hall. Interact with it to acquire the Monastery Key (Left).
- Return to Grand Hall: With both keys in hand, retrace your steps back to the Grand Hall.
Unlocking the Path Forward
- Final Locked Door: Back in the Grand Hall, use the newly acquired Monastery Key (Left) on the remaining locked door.
- Corridor Ambush: As you enter the newly opened corridor, be ready for a surprise attack. Often, a group of Bone Fiends will emerge from the ground. These enemies are vulnerable to aerial attacks and heavy combos.
- Save Point: After clearing the Bone Fiends, you'll find a Save Statue. It's highly recommended to save your progress here, as the next section can be challenging.
- Merchant Statue: Near the Save Statue, you'll also find a Merchant Statue. Take this opportunity to purchase any necessary healing items, upgrade your weapons, or acquire new Ninpo. Consider upgrading your Dragon Sword if you haven't already.
The Chapel and Boss Preparation
- Chapel Entrance: Proceed through the corridor past the Save and Merchant Statues. This will lead you into a large, open chapel area.
- Environmental Hazards: The chapel often features crumbling architecture and potentially falling debris. Keep an eye on your surroundings and be ready to dodge.
- Final Enemies: Before reaching the boss, you'll likely face a final wave of enemies, possibly including a mix of Ninjas and Bone Fiends. Clear them out to ensure a clear arena for the upcoming fight.
- Boss Trigger: Once the area is clear, approach the altar or the central point of the chapel. This will trigger the boss fight for Chapter 6. Ensure your health and Ninpo are topped off before initiating the encounter.
