Your Exosuit is your primary means of survival and interaction with the universe in No Man's Sky. Upgrading its various components – from hazard protection and life support to inventory space and jetpack capabilities – is crucial for venturing into more dangerous environments and undertaking more ambitious expeditions. A well-upgraded Exosuit is your key to unlocking the full potential of exploration.
The Exosuit has three main categories for upgrades: General Inventory, Technology, and Cargo. General Inventory slots are for carrying items, while Technology slots are dedicated to modules that provide passive bonuses or active abilities, such as improved scanners or hazard protection. Cargo slots offer expanded inventory space specifically for valuable resources and trade goods. Upgrades are typically acquired using Nanites from Exosuit Upgrade vendors found in space stations, trading posts, and the Space Anomaly.
Key Exosuit Upgrade Categories
- Hazard Protection: Essential for surviving extreme temperatures, toxic atmospheres, radiation, and corrosive environments. Upgrading these modules reduces depletion rates and increases protection levels.
- Life Support: Maintains your oxygen levels. Upgrades increase the efficiency of oxygen consumption and allow for longer periods without needing to recharge.
- Jetpack: Enhances your mobility. Upgrades increase thrust, reduce fuel consumption, and can even add new functionalities like the Boost Jump.
- Scanners: Improve your ability to detect resources, fauna, flora, and points of interest. Upgrades increase scan range and provide more detailed information.
- Inventory Space: Increases the number of slots available in your General, Technology, and Cargo inventories. This is vital for carrying more resources and equipment.
Acquiring Exosuit Upgrades
- Exosuit Upgrade Vendors: Found in most space stations and some trading posts. They sell upgrades for Nanites.
- Space Anomaly: The Nexus and other vendors within the Anomaly also offer various Exosuit upgrades.
- Manufacturing Facilities: Completing puzzles at these facilities can sometimes reward you with blueprints for Exosuit upgrades.
