Freighters can be acquired through a story event early in the game or purchased directly from freighter captains in space. Once obtained, you can customize their appearance, build extensive modules within them, and dispatch frigates on expeditions to gather resources and earn income.

Acquiring a Freighter

• Story Event: After a certain amount of playtime or warp jumps, you will typically encounter a freighter under attack by pirates. Rescuing it will often lead to an offer to purchase it at a discounted rate.
• Purchasing: You can also find freighters docked at space stations or flying in space. Approach the captain and negotiate a purchase. Freighters vary in class and size, affecting their price and stats.

Frigate Expeditions

Freighters allow you to command a fleet of frigates. These smaller ships can be purchased from freighter captains. You can then send them on expeditions:

• Mission Types: Expeditions can focus on combat, exploration, trade, or resource gathering.
• Frigate Classes: Frigates have classes (C to S) that affect their success rate and rewards.
• Success Rate: The combined stats of your dispatched frigates and the mission type determine the success rate.
• Rewards: Successful expeditions yield Units, rare resources, and sometimes even new frigates.
