Hyperdrive & Warp Travel
The Hyperdrive is your starship's gateway to the vastness of interstellar space in No Man's Sky. It allows you to traverse immense distances, jumping between star systems and exploring the procedurally generated galaxy. Understanding how to fuel, upgrade, and utilize your Hyperdrive is fundamental to your journey as an explorer.
To initiate a warp jump, your Hyperdrive must be fueled, typically with Warp Cells or Warp Hypercores. These can be crafted or purchased. Once fueled, you can access the Galactic Map to select a destination star system. The range of your Hyperdrive is determined by its installed technology and upgrades. Investing in Hyperdrive upgrades sificantly increases the distance you can travel in a single jump, allowing you to reach distant galaxies and explore more efficiently.
Fueling Your Hyperdrive
- Warp Cells: Crafted using Antimatter and Antimatter Housing.
- Warp Hypercores: A more potent fuel source, crafted using more advanced components.
- Antimatter: Can be crafted or purchased.
- Antimatter Housing: Can be crafted or purchased.
Ensure you always have a supply of Warp Cells or Hypercores before embarking on long journeys.
Hyperdrive Upgrades
Hyperdrive upgrades are installed in your Starship's technology slots and provide bonuses to warp distance and efficiency.
- Hyperdrive V1, V2, V3: These are tiered upgrades that increase the base warp range.
- Warp Drive Booster: Further enhances the maximum warp distance.
- Cadmium/Emeril/Indium Drives: These specialized drives allow you to warp to star systems of specific colors (Red, Green, Blue), which often contain rarer resources and unique planets.
You can install multiple Hyperdrive upgrades to stack their bonuses, achieving incredible warp ranges.
Using the Galactic Map
Access the Galactic Map from your Starship's cockpit or the pause menu. Here you can:
