Portal Glyph Reference
Portals are ancient alien gateways scattered across planets in No Man's Sky, allowing for instantaneous travel to distant locations across the galaxy. To activate a Portal, you must collect twelve Glyphs, each representing a unique symbol.
Glyphs are acquired by interacting with Traveler graves found on planets, speaking with Travelers in the Space Anomaly, or through specific story missions. Once you have collected all twelve Glyphs, you can input them at any Portal to travel to a specific address, opening up a universe of possibilities for exploration and trade.
What are Glyphs?
Glyphs are the twelve fundamental symbols of the universe in No Man's Sky. Each Glyph corresponds to a specific symbol and a unique destination coordinate. Collecting all twelve is essential for mastering Portal travel.
How to Acquire Glyphs
- Traveler Graves: The most common method is to find Traveler graves on planets. These are marked by a distinctive tombstone-like structure. Interacting with a grave will reward you with one Glyph. You can find Traveler graves by speaking to Travelers in the Space Anomaly, who will often point you towards a nearby one.
- Space Anomaly Travelers: Periodically, Travelers will appear in the Space Anomaly. Speaking to them will sometimes reveal the location of a nearby Traveler grave.
- Story Missions: The main storyline, particularly the 'Artemis Path', will guide you through acquiring many of the Glyphs naturally.
- Community Events: Certain community events or Expeditions may also offer Glyphs as rewards.
The Twelve Glyphs
Each Glyph has a unique name and icon. While the names are not crucial for inputting coordinates, recognizing the icons is helpful:
- The Face (Sunrise)
- The Vessel (Boat)
- The Locust (Insect)
- The Spider (Arachnid)
- The Tree (Plant)
- The Triangle (Geometric Shape)
- The Spiral (Swirl)
- The Bird (Avian)
- The Comet (Celestial Body)
- The Deep (Water/Ocean)
- The Moon (Lunar)
- The Star (Cosmic)
Using Portals
Once you have all twelve Glyphs:
- Locate a Portal on a planet. They are large, ring-like structures.
- Interact with the Portal to bring up the Glyph interface.
- Input the twelve Glyphs in the correct sequence for your desired destination. You can find Portal addresses online or from other players.
- Once all Glyphs are entered, you will need to recharge the Portal using Warp Cells or Warp Hypercores.
- Activate the Portal to travel to the specified location.
Note: Portal Interference prevents you from summoning your Starship to a planet immediately after arriving through a Portal. You will need to fly out of the system in your ship or summon your freighter.
