Advanced Enemy AI Tactics
The Syndicate operatives in Oni are not mere cannon fodder; they employ surprisingly sophisticated tactics that can overwhelm an unprepared Konoko. Understanding their behavior is key to survival, especially on higher difficulty settings. Enemies will often attempt to flank you, utilizing cover effectively and coordinating their attacks. Pay close attention to their movement patterns. If a group of enemies is advancing, they may try to suppress you with gunfire while others move to get a clear shot or close the distance for melee combat.
Snipers, often found in elevated positions, will prioritize taking you out from a distance. Their shots are powerful and can be devastating if you remain exposed. Always seek cover immediately upon hearing their distinct weapon fire. Melee-focused enemies, such as the heavily armored brutes, will relentlessly pursue you. Their attacks are slow but hit hard. The best strategy against them is to maintain distance, utilize evasive maneuvers like dodges and rolls, and exploit openings after they miss an attack. Some enemies will even throw grenades, forcing you to relocate quickly. Listen for the distinct beeping sound of a grenade to know when to move.
It's also worth noting that enemies can react to your actions. If you're constantly using the same cover, they may try to flush you out with explosives. If you rely too heavily on a specific weapon, they might adapt their approach. For instance, if you're consistently using a shotgun, enemies might try to keep you at bay with ranged attacks. Conversely, if you're peppering them with pistol fire, they might close the distance to engage in hand-to-hand combat where they often have an advantage. Learning to anticipate these shifts in enemy behavior and adapting your own tactics accordingly is the hallmark of a skilled Oni player.
