Data Chips
Data Chips are paramount for understanding the intricate narrative of Oni and unlocking advanced character abilities and weapon modifications. Each chip you recover provides a piece of the puzzle, often revealing encrypted messages, Syndicate operational plans, or personal logs of key figures.
Mission 1: The Tale of the Oni
- Data Chip 1: Syndicate Intel (Training Facility)
- Location: After the initial combat tutorial, you'll enter a large, open training area with several holographic targets. Look for a small, elevated platform accessible via a ladder on the far-right side of the room (relative to your entry point). The chip is on a crate next to a defunct weapons rack.
- Strategy: Clear the holographic targets to avoid distraction. The ladder can be a bit finicky; ensure you're directly facing it to initiate the climb prompt.
- Data Chip 2: Kage's Journal Entry (Warehouse District)
- Location: Following your first encounter with the heavy armored Syndicate enforcer, you'll proceed through a series of interconnected warehouses. In the third warehouse, with the large overhead crane, look for a stack of shipping containers in the back-left corner. The chip is hidden behind the topmost container, requiring a precise jump or a climb onto a lower container first.
- Strategy: Eliminate all enemies in the warehouse before attempting the jump. The jump can be tricky; aim for the edge of the container and be ready to mantle.
Mission 3: A Mad Pursuit
- Data Chip 3: Syndicate Comms Log (Abandoned Subway)
- Location: After navigating the collapsed tunnel section and encountering the first group of Syndicate snipers, you'll enter a disused subway station. Head to the far end of the platform, past the derailed train cars. The chip is inside a small, locked maintenance room. The keycard for this room is on a deceased Syndicate operative near the entrance to the station, slumped against a pillar.
- Strategy: Prioritize taking out the snipers. The keycard is easily missed if you rush through the area. Use your scanner to highlight the operative's body.
Weapon Schematics
Weapon Schematics are invaluable for expanding your arsenal and unlocking powerful new weapon types or significant modifications for existing ones. Collecting these will give you a tactical edge against the increasingly formidable Syndicate forces.
Mission 1: The Tale of the Oni
- Schematic 1: "Dragon's Breath" Shotgun Mod (Armory Annex)
- Location: After the initial infiltration of the Syndicate compound, you'll breach an armory annex. This schematic is not immediately visible. Look for a destructible wall panel on the left side of the room, near a weapons locker. Use a heavy melee attack or an explosive to reveal a hidden compartment containing the schematic.
- Strategy: Conserve an explosive grenade if you have one, or ensure your melee attack is charged. The wall panel has a slightly different texture; use your scanner.
Mission 3: A Mad Pursuit
- Schematic 2: "Ghost Whisper" Silencer (Rooftop Chase)
- Location: During the intense rooftop chase sequence, after you jump across the first major gap between buildings, you'll land on a lower rooftop. Instead of immediately continuing forward, look for a ventilation shaft entrance on your left. Crawl through the shaft to find a small hidden alcove with the schematic.
- Strategy: This is a high-speed section, so you'll need to be quick. If you miss it, you might have to restart the checkpoint. The ventilation shaft is dark, so your flashlight will be useful.
Oni Artifacts
Oni Artifacts are rare and ancient relics, often tied to the game's deeper lore and the origins of the Syndicate. These collectibles are typically the most challenging to find, requiring keen observation and often involving environmental puzzles.
Mission 1: The Tale of the Oni
- Artifact 1: "Crimson Mask Fragment" (Ancient Shrine)
- Location: Towards the end of the mission, after defeating the mini-boss in the underground research facility, you'll pass through a section that appears to be an ancient, overgrown shrine. Look for a cracked stone pillar on the right side of the path, near a small waterfall. The artifact is nestled within the crack.
- Strategy: This area is dimly lit. Use your flashlight and scanner to spot the subtle glint of the artifact within the pillar. There are no enemies in this specific spot, allowing for careful exploration.
Mission 3: A Mad Pursuit
- Artifact 2: "Jade Dragon Eye" (Hidden Temple Entrance)
- Location: After the major firefight in the abandoned market, you'll enter a narrow alleyway. Instead of following the main path, look for a series of precarious ledges on the left wall. Carefully platform your way up these ledges to reach a hidden entrance to a small, dilapidated temple. The artifact is on a pedestal inside.
- Strategy: This platforming section requires precision. Take your time and watch your footing. Falling will likely result in death or a significant health loss. There might be a single, weak enemy inside the temple, so be prepared.
