Best Team Compositions
Forming an effective co-op team in Outriders is crucial for tackling the game's most challenging content, particularly Expeditions. The ideal team composition leverages the unique strengths of each class to create a synergistic unit capable of handling diverse threats. A balanced team typically includes a mix of damage dealers, crowd controllers, and survivability enhancers. For instance, a common and highly effective composition might feature a Pyromancer for their damage-over-time effects and vulnerability application, a Technomancer for sustained healing and powerful turret-based damage, and a Devastator for their tanking capabilities and close-range devastation. This combination allows the team to control the battlefield, maintain high uptime on enemies, and recover from damage effectively.
When considering team compositions, it's important to understand how each class's abilities interact. The Pyromancer's Heatwave can set enemies ablaze, making them vulnerable to the Devastator's Earthquake ability, which can then be followed up by the Technomancer's Scrapnel for additional damage and crowd control. This layered approach to combat ensures that enemies are constantly under pressure and unable to mount a sificant counter-offensive. Furthermore, the Technomancer's ability to deploy healing Turrets provides a vital lifeline for the entire team, especially during intense firefights where dodging and cover are not always sufficient. The Devastator, with their high health pool and defensive abilities like Golems, can draw enemy aggro, allowing the more fragile damage dealers to operate with greater freedom and safety. The synergy between these roles is paramount for success.
Synergistic Class Pairings
- Pyromancer & Devastator: The Pyromancer's ability to apply Burning status effects, which increase damage taken by enemies, pairs exceptionally well with the Devastator's high-damage, close-range abilities like Ground Shatter. A Devastator can charge into a group of Burning enemies, unleashing devastating attacks while the Pyromancer provides supporting fire and crowd control with abilities like Overheat.
- Technomancer & Trickster: The Technomancer's healing and utility from their Turrets can sificantly boost the Trickster's survivability, allowing the Trickster to play more aggressively. The Trickster's ability to teleport and disrupt enemy lines with Slow Trap can create openings for the Technomancer to deploy their damage-dealing abilities, such as Blightciaux, with less risk.
- Devastator & Technomancer: This pairing focuses on survivability and sustained damage. The Devastator can act as a frontline tank, absorbing damage with Kinetic Absorption, while the Technomancer provides consistent healing and area denial with their Cryo Turret and Rocket Turret. This composition is excellent for controlling chokepoints and weathering heavy assaults.
Team Roles and Responsibilities
In a co-op team, each player should understand their primary role. The frontline fighter, often a Devastator, is responsible for engaging enemies directly, drawing aggro, and disrupting their formations. The ranged damage dealer, such as a Pyromancer or Trickster, focuses on eliminating high-priority targets and applying status effects from a safe distance. The support class, typically a Technomancer, provides essential healing, buffs, and crowd control, ensuring the team's longevity. Communication is key; call out targets, alert teammates to incoming threats, and coordinate the use of powerful ultimate abilities. For example, a Devastator might call out when they are about to use Earthquake, allowing the Pyromancer to follow up with Overheat on the stunned enemies, maximizing the damage dealt. A well-coordinated team can overcome challenges that would be insurmountable for uncoordinated groups.
