Joining & Hosting Sessions
Joining and hosting multiplayer sessions in Outriders is a streamlined process desed to facilitate quick and easy access to cooperative gameplay. You can choose to host their own session, which will then be visible to friends and potentially other players depending on privacy settings. Alternatively, You can search for open sessions hosted by others. The game supports cross-platform play, meaning a PC player can join a session hosted by an Xbox player, and vice versa, greatly expanding the available player pool. When hosting, You can select their desired World Tier and the mission or Expedition they wish to undertake. This allows for a degree of control over the difficulty and the type of content the group will engage with. For instance, a group might decide to host a session specifically for farming resources in a particular area or for tackling a challenging Expedition like "The Dead World."
To join a session, You can navigate to the multiplayer menu and select the option to find a game. The system will then present a list of available sessions based on criteria such as World Tier, mission type, and whether the session is open to friends only or to the public. You can then select a session that interests them and join the lobby. Once in a lobby, You can see who else has joined, communicate via voice chat or text, and prepare their loadouts before commencing the activity. The host has the ability to start the mission or Expedition, and all participating players will be transported to the game world. If a player's connection drops or they leave a session, the game will attempt to fill the vacant slot if the session is public, ensuring that the cooperative experience can continue. This flexible system allows players to easily find teammates for both casual play and more demanding endgame content, such as conquering the "Typhon's Lair" expedition.
