Version 2.3.1 - The "Sizzling Summer" Update (Released: August 15, 2023)

This major content update brings a fresh wave of challenges and quality-of-life improvements to the Onion Kingdom. Prepare for new recipes, vibrant kitchens, and crucial bug fixes!

New Content

  • New World: "Tropical Tides"
    • Explore 6 brand-new kitchens set across a sun-drenched archipelago. Expect dynamic environmental hazards like shifting sandbars and mischievous crab customers!
    • Unlock 3 new chef costumes: the "Beach Bum Bear," "Surfer Sloth," and "Sun-Kissed Sushi Chef." These can be found in the new world's final level, "Coral Kitchen Cove."
  • New Recipes:
    • Grilled Pineapple Skewers: Requires Pineapple (found in Tropical Tides levels), Skewer (always available), and Grill. Prep time: Quick chop, then grill until golden.
    • Coconut Shrimp Curry: Requires Shrimp (new ingredient, found in "Lagoon Lookout"), Coconut Milk (new ingredient, found in "Palm Tree Plaza"), Rice, and Curry Powder. Prep time: Chop shrimp, combine with coconut milk and curry powder in a pot, then serve with cooked rice.
    • Tropical Fruit Smoothie: Requires Banana, Mango (new ingredient, found in "Island Oasis"), and Ice. Prep time: Chop fruit, blend with ice.
  • New Mechanic: "Tidal Waves"
    • Introduced in several "Tropical Tides" levels. Periodically, a large wave will sweep across the kitchen, temporarily moving all loose items and chefs. Strategize your movements to avoid losing ingredients or falling off platforms!

Gameplay Adjustments & Balancing

  • Recipe Difficulty Rework:
    • Adjusted the order requirements for several early-game recipes to provide a smoother difficulty curve for new players.
    • "Sushi Platter" (Overcooked 1 Campaign) now requires 2 rolls instead of 3 for the first star, making it more achievable.
  • Chef Movement Speed:
    • Slightly increased the base movement speed of all chefs by 5%. This should feel more responsive, especially in larger kitchens.
  • Ingredient Spawning:
    • Increased the spawn rate of "Lettuce" in "Salad Bowl Summit" (Overcooked 2 Campaign) by 10% to alleviate bottlenecks.
  • "Fire Extinguisher" Effectiveness:
    • Reduced the cooldown of the Fire Extinguisher by 1 second. Every second counts when the kitchen is ablaze!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where "Plates" would sometimes become ungrabbable after being placed on a counter in "Floating Fungi" (Overcooked 2 Campaign).
  • Resolved a bug causing "Chopping Boards" to occasionally despawn when dropped near the edge of the "Ice Cream Parlor" (Overcooked 1 Campaign).
  • Addressed a rare crash that could occur when multiple chefs simultaneously interacted with a "Serving Hatch" during online co-op.
  • Corrected visual flickering of "Cooked Rice" on the "Rice Cooker" in "Sushi School" (Overcooked 1 Campaign).
  • Fixed an exploit where players could infinitely stack "Dirty Plates" in certain corners of "The Unbread" (Overcooked 2 Campaign).
  • Improved collision detection for "Thrown Ingredients" to prevent them from passing through walls in "Hot Air Balloon" (Overcooked 2 Campaign).
  • Resolved an audio bug where the "Slicing" sound effect would sometimes loop indefinitely after a chef stopped chopping.

Version 2.2.0 - The "Quality of Life" Update (Released: May 20, 2023)

This update focused on enhancing the overall player experience through various improvements and minor content additions.

New Features

  • Customizable Chef Emotes:
    • You can now assign 4 unique emotes to a quick-access wheel, allowing for more expressive communication in online play. Access this feature via the "Chef Customization" menu in the main hub.
  • "Practice Mode" for All Levels:
    • Every level in the game can now be accessed in a non-timed "Practice Mode," perfect for learning layouts and optimizing strategies without the pressure of the clock. Select this option from the level select screen.

Gameplay Adjustments & Balancing

  • "Conveyor Belt" Speed:
    • Slightly reduced the speed of all "Conveyor Belts" by 8% to give players more reaction time, particularly in levels like "Conveyor Chaos" (Overcooked 1 Campaign).
  • "Dishwasher" Efficiency:
    • Increased the speed at which the "Dishwasher" cleans plates by 15%. This should help manage plate overflow in busy kitchens.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where "Soup Bowls" would sometimes clip through "Serving Hatches" in "Soup Kitchen" (Overcooked 1 Campaign).
  • Resolved a bug where the "Timer" would occasionally display incorrect values during online sessions with high latency.
  • Addressed a visual glitch causing "Chef Hats" to disappear during certain animations.

Version 2.1.3 - Hotfix (Released: March 15, 2023)

A small patch addressing critical issues identified after the previous major update.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a critical bug that caused game crashes when attempting to load "Gourmet Gauntlet" (Overcooked 2 Campaign) in local co-op.
  • Resolved an issue where "Onion Rings" would sometimes fail to register as cooked when removed from the "Deep Fryer" too quickly.
