Welcome to Decalburg, your central hub in Paper Mario: Sticker Star! This bustling town is where your adventure begins and where you'll frequently return to restock on stickers, heal up, and uncover secrets. After the initial cutscene and the unfortunate Sticker Fest incident, you'll find yourself here, ready to embark on your quest to reassemble the Sticker Comet.

Initial Exploration & Objectives

Upon gaining control of Mario, your first task is to familiarize yourself with Decalburg. There are a few key areas and characters to interact with right away:

Toad House: Located to the left of the main plaza. This is where you can heal Mario completely for free. Make it a habit to visit after every major battle or before heading out to a new stage.
Sticker Shop: Found on the right side of the main plaza. This shop is your primary source for new stickers. Initially, the selection will be limited, but it expands as you progress through the game. Always keep a good variety of stickers on hand!
Museum: To the far right of the Sticker Shop. The Museum is where you can display Thing Stickers you've found throughout the world. While not immediately crucial for progression, it's a fun way to track your collection.
Royal Sticker Pedestal: In the center of the plaza, this is where the first Royal Sticker was originally located. You'll need to interact with it to understand your primary goal.

Meeting Kersti

Your first major objective in Decalburg is to meet your faithful companion, Kersti. She's a feisty sticker fairy who will guide you through your journey. Here's how to find her:

After the initial chaos, head to the right side of the main plaza.
You'll notice a small, shimmering object near the fountain. Approach it.
Kersti will reveal herself and explain the situation regarding the scattered Royal Stickers. She'll also teach you the basics of Paperizing, a crucial ability that allows you to interact with the environment in unique ways.

Learning to Paperize

Kersti's tutorial on Paperizing is essential. Pay close attention! This ability lets you flatten parts of the environment to place stickers or reveal hidden paths. You'll use it constantly throughout the game.

Press 'Y' to enter Paperize mode.
Move the cursor around the screen to highlight objects that can be peeled or interacted with.
Press 'A' to peel or place stickers.

First Steps on the World Map

Once you've met Kersti and learned to Paperize, the path to the World Map will open up. This is where you'll select the stages you wish to explore.

Head to the northern exit of Decalburg, located behind the Royal Sticker Pedestal.
You'll find a large, rolled-up map. Approach it and interact to unfurl the World Map.
Your first destination will be World 1-1: Warm Fuzzy Plains. Select it to begin your adventure proper!

Important Decalburg Tips

Stock Up: Before heading out to any stage, always ensure you have a good supply of basic attack stickers (Jump, Hammer) and some healing stickers (Mushroom). The Sticker Shop is your friend!
Heal Often: The Toad House is free and instantly restores all HP. There's no reason not to use it frequently.
Explore Thoroughly: Decalburg, while small, has a few hidden coins and occasional sticker spawns. Use Paperize mode to check walls and objects for anything peelable.
Talk to Toads: The Toads in Decalburg often offer hints, gossip, or even small coin rewards.
