World 1-4: Hither Thither Hill

Welcome to Hither Thither Hill! This stage introduces some tricky platforming and a new enemy type. Be prepared for some strategic sticker usage.

Walkthrough

  1. Starting Area:
    • Head right from the start. You'll immediately encounter a new enemy: a Spiny. Spinies are spiky, so jumping on them will hurt Mario. Use a Hammer Sticker or a Jump Sticker with a timely action command to flip them over before jumping.
    • Continue right. You'll see a small gap. Jump across it.
    • Just past the gap, there's a hidden block in the air. Jump to hit it and reveal a Coin Sticker.
    • Further right, you'll find a Question Block containing a Jump Sticker.
  2. The Shifting Platforms:
    • You'll come to an area with several yellow platforms that move up and down. Timing your jumps is crucial here.
    • Jump onto the first moving platform when it's low enough, then quickly jump to the next as it rises.
    • There's a Coin Block above the second moving platform. Hit it for some extra coins.
    • At the end of this section, you'll find a Question Block containing a Hammer Sticker.
  3. The Spiny Gauntlet:
    • After the moving platforms, you'll encounter a series of small ledges with Spinies patrolling them.
    • Take your time and defeat each Spiny individually. Remember the strategy: Hammer Sticker or a well-timed Jump Sticker to flip them, then finish them off.
    • On the third small ledge, there's a hidden block containing a Leaf Sticker.
    • After clearing the Spinies, you'll see a large gap.
  4. Paperization Opportunity:
    • To cross the large gap, you'll need to use your Paperization ability.
    • Stand at the edge of the gap and press 'Y' to enter Paperization mode.
    • Look for the outline of a bridge. Peel it off the background.
    • Place the bridge sticker across the gap to create a path.
    • Cross the newly formed bridge.
  5. Final Stretch to the Comet Piece:
    • On the other side of the bridge, you'll find a few more Goombas and Spinies. Deal with them as you see fit.
    • To the right, there's a Question Block containing a Super Jump Sticker. This is a great sticker to save for tougher enemies or bosses!
    • Continue right, and you'll spot the Comet Piece. Jump to collect it.
