April 7th - First Day of School

Welcome to your first day as a transfer student at Gekkoukan High School! This day serves as a crucial introduction to the game's daily rhythm, your new environment, and the initial cast of characters. While it might seem like a simple tutorial day, understanding the available interactions and laying the groundwork for future Social Links and Social Stats is key.

Morning: School Introduction & Classroom

The day begins with your formal introduction to Gekkoukan High. You'll be escorted to your classroom, 2-F, where you'll meet your new classmates. Pay attention to the dialogue, as it introduces several key characters who will become important throughout your journey.

  • Classroom 2-F: This will be your homeroom for the duration of the game. You'll spend many mornings here, attending lectures and occasionally answering questions that can boost your Academics Social Stat.
  • First Impressions: You'll be introduced to Yukari Takeba, a fellow student who lives in the same dormitory as you. Her initial interactions are important for establishing your relationship with her.

Afternoon: Exploring Gekkoukan High & Initial Interactions

After classes conclude for the day, you'll gain a limited amount of free time to explore the school grounds. This is your first opportunity to familiarize yourself with the layout and interact with various NPCs. While you won't be able to initiate most Social Links today, you can certainly set the stage.

Key Locations to Visit & Interactions:

  • Main Gate: The entrance to the school. Not much to do here today, but it's a good landmark.
  • 1F Lobby:
    • Faculty Office: Located on the first floor. While you won't have direct business here today, it's a place you'll frequent later for various quests and requests.
    • Nurse's Office: Also on the first floor. Visiting the nurse when you're Tired or Sick can sometimes provide a small Courage boost, but this isn't available on day one.
  • 2F Classroom Area:
    • Your Classroom (2-F): You can re-enter your classroom. While there are no immediate interactions here, it's good to know its location.
    • Other Classrooms: You can peek into other classrooms, but no significant interactions are available.
  • 3F Student Council Room & Rooftop:
    • Student Council Room: This is a crucial location! You'll be introduced to Mitsuru Kirijo, the Student Council President, and Hidetoshi Odagiri, the Vice President. This interaction is your first exposure to the Student Council Social Link (Emperor Arcana).
    • Rooftop: Offers a nice view and will become a hangout spot later in the game.
  • Courtyard: A central outdoor area. You'll find various students here throughout the game.
  • Gymnasium: Located on the first floor. No immediate interactions.

Specific NPCs to Talk To:

While you won't initiate full Social Links today, engaging in dialogue with certain NPCs can provide flavor text and introduce future opportunities.

  • Yukari Takeba: You'll have several scripted interactions with her throughout the day. Pay attention to her personality and initial reactions to you.
  • Mitsuru Kirijo: Your interaction with her in the Student Council Room is important. She will briefly explain the Student Council's role and invite you to consider joining.
  • Hidetoshi Odagiri: The Vice President of the Student Council. He's also present during your interaction with Mitsuru.
  • Random Students: Feel free to talk to any students with speech bubbles above their heads. While they won't offer anything substantial today, it helps to get a feel for the school's atmosphere.

Evening: Dormitory & Social Stats Introduction

After your initial exploration of the school, you'll return to the Iwatodai Dormitory. This is where the game introduces the concept of Social Stats and your first opportunity to begin building them.

Social Stats Overview:

Persona 3 Portable features three core Social Stats that influence your ability to initiate and progress certain Social Links, as well as unlock various activities:

  • Academics: Represents your intelligence and knowledge. Required for certain Social Links and passing exams.
  • Charm: Represents your charisma and attractiveness. Required for certain Social Links and interactions.
  • Courage: Represents your bravery and resilience. Required for certain Social Links and facing challenging situations.

First Opportunity to Boost Social Stats:

On April 7th, your primary opportunity to boost Social Stats will be within the dormitory. While the options are limited, it's important to start thinking about how you want to prioritize them.

  • Studying at Your Desk: Interacting with the desk in your room will allow you to study, which boosts your Academics. This is a reliable way to increase this stat throughout the game.
  • Reading a Book: While you won't have books immediately available, this will become another method for boosting Academics later.
  • Watching TV: Not available on day one, but will become an option for boosting various stats depending on the program.

Important Notes & Missables:

  • Student Council Social Link (Emperor Arcana): While you are introduced to Mitsuru and Hidetoshi today, the Student Council Social Link with Hidetoshi does not become available immediately. You will need to wait until April 27th to officially join the Student Council and begin this Social Link. Don't worry about missing it today; the game will guide you.
  • No Tartarus Exploration: Tartarus, the game's main dungeon, is not accessible on this day. The game will introduce Tartarus exploration later in the month.
  • No Evening Social Links: Aside from studying, no other Social Links or significant evening activities are available on April 7th.
  • Focus on Acquaintance: The primary goal of April 7th is to get acquainted with the school environment, the dormitory, and the initial cast of characters. Don't feel pressured to maximize anything just yet. The game is designed to ease you into its mechanics.
