Skill Cards

Skill Cards are a powerful new addition in Persona 3 Reload, allowing you to teach specific skills to any Persona in your inventory. This offers unprecedented customization for your Personas, letting you patch up weaknesses, create specialized builds, or simply transfer a favorite skill to a new, stronger Persona. Understanding how to acquire and utilize Skill Cards is crucial for optimizing your combat effectiveness in Tartarus.

Acquiring Skill Cards

There are several primary methods for obtaining Skill Cards:

Shuffle Time: After winning a battle, if you trigger a Shuffle Time event, keep an eye out for cards with a skill icon. These are Skill Cards. The rarity and power of the skill card often correspond to the difficulty of the Shadow defeated.
Monad Doors & Passages: Within Tartarus, particularly in Monad Doors and Monad Passages, you'll frequently find chests containing valuable items, including Skill Cards. These areas often house stronger Shadows, so be prepared for a fight.
Elizabeth Requests: Certain requests from Elizabeth will reward you with specific Skill Cards upon completion. Always check her available requests to see if there are any desirable skills up for grabs.
Antique Shop (Mayoido Antiques): Once unlocked, the Antique Shop in Paulownia Mall will sometimes have Skill Cards available for purchase. These typically require rare materials obtained from Tartarus or exchanging Gems. Keep an eye on their rotating stock.
Persona Leveling: Some Personas will yield a Skill Card of one of their learned abilities once they reach a certain level. This is indicated by a small card icon next to the skill in the Persona's status screen. This is a great way to "extract" useful skills from Personas you might otherwise fuse away.

Using Skill Cards

To use a Skill Card, follow these steps:

Navigate to the "Persona" menu from the main menu.
Select "Skill Cards."
Choose the Skill Card you wish to use from your inventory.
Select the Persona you want to teach the skill to.

Important Considerations:

A Persona can only learn a skill if it has an open skill slot. If all slots are full, you'll need to overwrite an existing skill. Be mindful of this, as some skills are unique or difficult to re-acquire.
Skill Cards are generally single-use items, so plan your applications carefully.
There are no restrictions on what type of Persona can learn a skill from a Skill Card (e.g., an Agi card can be taught to a Persona that naturally learns Bufu skills). This flexibility is where the true power of Skill Cards lies.

Strategic Applications

Skill Cards open up a wealth of strategic possibilities:

Covering Weaknesses: If your favorite Persona has a glaring elemental weakness, you can teach it a skill that nullifies, repels, or absorbs that element (e.g., teaching an Ice Persona a "Null Fire" skill).
Optimizing Damage: Enhance a Persona's primary attack type by teaching it powerful single-target or area-of-effect skills of that element. For example, giving a Persona with high Magic and innate Garu skills a "Magarudyne" Skill Card.
Support Builds: Create dedicated support Personas by teaching them healing, buff, or debuff skills that they might not naturally learn. Skills like "Mediarahan" or "Debilitate" are prime candidates for Skill Card transfer.
Physical Attackers: Even physical-focused Personas can benefit from Skill Cards, especially those that grant powerful physical attacks or critical rate boosts.
Early Game Advantage: Don't hoard all your Skill Cards! Using powerful elemental skills or healing abilities early in the game can significantly ease your progression through Tartarus.
