Effective meter management is a cornerstone of high-level play. Your SP Gauge (blue) is used for SP Skills, Awakened SP Skills, and One More! Cancels. Your Burst Gauge (green) is used for defensive Bursts (A+C+D while blocking/getting hit) or offensive One More! Bursts (A+C+D during a combo). Knowing when to spend your SP for damage or save it for a crucial reversal is vital. Similarly, deciding whether to use your Burst defensively to escape pressure or offensively to extend a combo for a potential kill is a game-changing decision. Generally, using Burst defensively is safer, but an offensive Burst can secure a round. Shadow characters cannot use Burst defensively, but their Shadow Frenzy (A+C+D at 100 SP) offers immense offensive potential. Always be aware of your meter and your opponent's meter.
