Requests (Side Quests)
Beyond the main storyline, Persona 4 Golden offers a wealth of optional content in the form of Requests. These side quests, often initiated by townspeople or through the Samegawa Flood Plain bulletin board, provide valuable rewards, opportunities to strengthen Social Links, and a deeper understanding of Inaba's inhabitants.
Requests are typically found by speaking with NPCs who have a quest marker above their heads, or by checking the bulletin board at the Samegawa Flood Plain. Completing these tasks often involves retrieving specific items, defeating certain Shadows in dungeons, or delivering messages. The rewards can range from money and useful items to sificant boosts in social stats or Social Link points.
Types of Requests:
- Item Retrieval: You'll be asked to find specific items, often dropped by enemies in dungeons or available for purchase in shops.
- Shadow Extermination: Some requests require you to defeat specific Shadows, often with particular conditions or in certain dungeon areas.
- Delivery/Errands: Occasionally, you'll need to deliver items or messages to NPCs, sometimes within the TV World itself.
- Social Stat-Based: Certain requests may require you to have a specific social stat level (e.g., Knowledge, Courage) before you can accept or complete them.
How to Approach Requests:
- Check the Bulletin Board: Regularly visit the Samegawa Flood Plain bulletin board for new requests.
- Talk to NPCs: Speak with everyone who has a quest marker; they might have a task for you.
- Note Requirements: Pay attention to the specific items, enemies, or conditions required for each request.
- Combine Efforts: Many requests can be completed while you are already in a dungeon for story progression or other quests, saving you valuable time.
- Rewards: Completing requests often yields money, valuable items, and sometimes even increases your Social Link rank with certain characters.
Example Request: Quest 27 - "The Girl Who Loves Cats"
This request, available from a woman in front of the bookstore, requires you to find a "Shaking Scale" dropped by the "Sea Guardian" Shadow in the Steamy Bathhouse. Upon completion, you receive money and a valuable accessory.
