Requests & Quests
Persona 4 Golden features a robust system of side quests, known as Requests, that offer valuable rewards and add depth to the game's world. These optional tasks range from simple item retrieval to challenging Shadow hunts, providing ample opportunities to earn money, items, and experience while exploring Inaba and the TV World.
Requests are primarily initiated by speaking with NPCs who have a quest marker above their heads, or by checking the bulletin board located at the Samegawa Flood Plain. Completing these tasks often involves gathering specific items, defeating certain enemies within dungeons, or delivering messages. Successfully fulfilling a Request can yield sificant benefits, including money, rare items, and sometimes even Social Link points.
Types of Requests:
- Item Collection: You'll be tasked with finding specific items, which might be dropped by enemies, purchased from shops, or found in treasure chests within dungeons.
- Shadow Hunts: Some Requests require you to defeat particular Shadows, often with specific conditions or located in desated areas of the TV World.
- Errands and Deliveries: Occasionally, you'll need to deliver items or messages to NPCs, sometimes requiring travel between different locations in Inaba or even within dungeons.
- Social Stat Requirements: Certain Requests may only become available or completable once your protagonist has reached a specific level in one of their social stats (e.g., Knowledge, Courage).
How to Approach Requests:
- Regularly Check Sources: Make it a habit to check the Samegawa Flood Plain bulletin board and speak with NPCs who have quest markers.
- Combine Objectives: Many Requests can be completed concurrently with main story dungeon crawls or other side quests, maximizing your time efficiency.
- Prepare Accordingly: For Shadow Hunt requests, ensure your party is adequately leveled and equipped for the specific enemies you'll face.
- Understand Rewards: Be aware of the rewards offered for each Request, as they can sificantly aid your progression.
Example: Quest 35 - "The Secret of the Sea"
This Request, available from a fisherman at the Kasami Shopping District, asks you to catch a "Sea Guardian" in the river. This involves fishing and requires specific bait and technique, rewarding you with money and useful items upon success.
