March marks the poignant conclusion of your year in Inaba. This section guides you through the final days, ensuring you tie up any loose ends and experience the true ending of Persona 4 Golden.
March 20th: The Final Day
This is it – the day you leave Inaba. Before you depart, there are several crucial steps to take to ensure you achieve the "True Ending" and maximize your final interactions.
- Morning Preparations:
- Saying Goodbye: You'll have a chance to speak with each of your fully maxed-out Social Links. These conversations often provide unique dialogue and a sense of closure. Prioritize visiting those you've grown closest to.
- Velvet Room Visit: If you haven't already, now is your last chance to fuse any Personas you desire or complete any remaining Persona Compendium entries. Igor and Margaret will have some final words for you.
- The Farewell Tour:
Before heading to the station, take a moment to revisit key locations and characters. While not strictly mandatory for the True Ending, it adds to the emotional impact.
- Junes Department Store: Speak with your friends here for some final reflections.
- Shopping District, South: Check in with Dojima and Nanako at your residence.
- Aiya Chinese Restaurant: If you've frequented this establishment, a final meal might be in order.
- Samegawa Flood Plain: A good spot for quiet contemplation and a last look at the river.
- The Station and the Truth:
Once you've said your goodbyes, head to the Train Station. Here, you'll be prompted to make a critical decision that determines your ending. To achieve the True Ending:
- When prompted, choose "No" when asked if you're ready to leave.
- You will then be given the option to "Go back to the house". Select this.
- After a scene at the house, head to the Junes Department Store.
- Inside Junes, interact with the elevator to trigger a conversation with your friends.
- During this conversation, you will be given a series of dialogue options. It is crucial to select options that express doubt about the true culprit and encourage further investigation. Specifically, look for options that question the "easy" answer and suggest there's more to the story.
- After the conversation, you'll be prompted to visit the Gas Station. This is the final, crucial step.
- The True Culprit Revealed:
At the Gas Station, speak with the attendant. Through a series of dialogue choices, you must correctly identify the attendant as the true mastermind behind the events in Inaba. Pay close attention to their dialogue and the subtle hints dropped throughout the game. Successfully confronting them will unlock the final dungeon.
The Hollow Forest (Golden Exclusive)
If you have maxed out Marie's Social Link (Aeon Arcana) by December 2nd, you will unlock an additional dungeon, the Hollow Forest, which becomes accessible on February 13th. Completing this dungeon is essential for the Golden Ending.
- Accessing the Dungeon: After the events of January and February, if Marie's Social Link is maxed, you will be able to enter the Hollow Forest.
- Dungeon Strategy:
- No Items Allowed: A unique challenge of this dungeon is that all your inventory items are removed upon entry. You must rely on skills, Persona abilities, and items found within the dungeon.
- Treasure Chests: Prioritize opening treasure chests as they contain vital healing and offensive items.
- Boss Battle: The final boss of the Hollow Forest is a formidable opponent. Ensure your party is well-equipped with strong Personas and a balanced set of skills. Exploit elemental weaknesses and use buffs/debuffs effectively.
- Rewards: Completing the Hollow Forest provides significant experience and unique items, contributing to the overall Golden Ending narrative.
Graduation Day: March 21st
After all the mysteries are solved and farewells are made, you'll attend the graduation ceremony. This day is largely cinematic, providing a heartwarming conclusion to your journey. Enjoy the final moments with your friends and reflect on the bonds you've forged.
