Fishing

Fishing is a relaxing pastime that can yield valuable items and even boost your Diligence. It's also necessary for certain quests and for obtaining specific items for weapon fusion.

  • How to Start:
    1. Obtain a Fishing Rod. The first rod, the Old Rod, can be acquired by trading a Guardian fish (caught at the Samegawa Flood Plain) to the man at the Shrine after completing his quest for a Tatsuhime Ladybug.
    2. Purchase Bait from the Shichiri Beach or the General Store in the Central Shopping District. Different baits attract different fish.
    3. Head to a fishing spot: Samegawa Flood Plain or Shichiri Beach.
  • Mechanics:
    • Cast your line and wait for a bite.
    • When the bobber dips, press the action button to hook the fish.
    • A mini-game will begin where you need to keep the fish's icon within the designated area using the analog stick.
    • Successfully reeling in a fish increases your Diligence and provides fish, which can be sold or used in recipes.
  • Advanced Fishing:
    • Better Rods: The River Rod and Sea Rod can be obtained later in the game, allowing you to catch larger and rarer fish.
    • Legendary Fish: The Guardian (Samegawa Flood Plain) and Sea Guardian (Shichiri Beach) are extremely difficult to catch but yield significant rewards and are required for certain quests.
    • Bait Types: Experiment with different baits like the Inaba Trout, Mushroom, or Bread to target specific fish.

Gardening
