Boss Strategies
Conquering the various bosses in Persona 5 Royal requires a strategic approach, often exploiting elemental weaknesses and managing your party's resources. For Kamoshida's Palace, the first major boss, Kamoshida himself, is susceptible to Wind and Nuclear attacks. Ensure Morgana is equipped with Wind-based skills and that Joker has access to any Nuclear Personas you might have fused. Prioritize targeting Kamoshida's physical attacks and use buffs like Rakukaja to increase your party's attack power. During the fight, Kamoshida will summon his knights; defeating them quickly can prevent them from buffing him or healing him. Remember that guns regain ammunition after each battle, so don't hesitate to use them when opportune, especially against enemies with no elemental weakness or when you need to conserve SP. For later bosses, such as Kaneshiro, understanding their attack patterns and weaknesses is paramount. Kaneshiro, for instance, has phases where he's vulnerable to different elements. Always check the enemy's resistances and weaknesses in the battle menu before committing to an attack. Utilizing Baton Pass effectively after a critical hit can grant your party members additional turns and damage boosts, which is crucial for quickly dispatching tougher foes and minimizing the risk of taking heavy damage.
When facing bosses that summon adds, like Madarame's Shadow or Okumura's robots, it's often more efficient to clear the adds first if they pose a sificant threat or if they are required to make the boss vulnerable. However, in some cases, like with Kamoshida's knights, focusing on the boss while managing the adds is the better strategy. Always keep an eye on your party's HP and SP. Items like Soma or specific healing items can be lifesavers. Don't be afraid to use them. If a boss is particularly difficult, consider returning to Mementos or a previous Palace to grind for experience and better Personas. The 'Hold Up' system is also a powerful tool, not just for negotiation but for avoiding unnecessary fights or gaining an advantage. If you can down all enemies, you can initiate a 'Hold Up' and potentially get items, money, or even recruit them as Personas, which can sificantly ease future encounters.
