Attack Types: Physical, Gun, Magic

Combat in Persona 5 Royal is a strategic dance of exploiting enemy weaknesses, and understanding the different attack types is fundamental to mastering this system. Your party members and Personas can use several damage types, each with its own strengths and applications against different enemy archetypes. Knowing when to use Physical attacks, Gun attacks, or Magic is crucial for efficient combat and for overcoming challenging encounters.

Physical Attacks are your most basic form of offense, dealing direct damage to an enemy's HP. These attacks are often associated with melee weapons wielded by your party members, such as swords and knives. While they might not always exploit elemental weaknesses, they are reliable for consistent damage and can be effective against many foes. Some Physical skills also have secondary effects, like inflicting status ailments.

Gun Attacks offer a ranged offensive option, often dealing moderate damage with a chance to inflict status effects like Fear or Dizzy. While they consume ammo, which can be replenished, they are particularly useful for targeting enemies from a distance or when your melee attackers are unable to reach them. Certain Gun skills can also be effective against specific enemy types or in particular combat scenarios.

Magic Attacks are the elemental backbone of Persona 5 Royal's combat. These attacks are performed by your Personas and come in various elemental forms: Fire, Ice, Electric, Wind, Nuclear, Psychic, Bless, and Curse. Each enemy in the game has specific resistances, weaknesses, or immunities to these elements. Exploiting an enemy's weakness with the correct elemental magic attack will result in a 'One More' turn, allowing you to chain attacks and gain a sificant advantage. Learning which Persona has which elemental spells and understanding enemy elemental affinities is key to victory.
