Developing your social stats is just as crucial as mastering combat, as these attributes unlock new opportunities, strengthen your Confidant relationships, and influence your overall experience. Balancing your academic and social life is key to becoming a well-rounded individual and a more effective Phantom Thief.
Your social stats are represented by five key attributes: Knowledge, Guts, Proficiency, Kindness, and Charm. Each stat can be increased through various activities throughout the game, and reaching certain levels is often a prerequisite for ranking up specific Confidants or unlocking special events. Investing time in these stats will pay dividends throughout your playthrough.
Here's a breakdown of each social stat and how to increase them:
- Knowledge: Essential for answering questions correctly in class, on TV quizzes, and during exams. It's also increased by reading books, studying at the library or LeBlanc, and playing certain video games. High Knowledge is required for some Confidant ranks and for passing exams.
- Guts: Represents your courage and conviction. It can be increased by watching horror movies, eating certain foods (like spicy curry), working at the Crossroads Bar, and engaging in certain dialogue choices. Guts is important for facing difficult situations and progressing certain Confidants.
- Proficiency: This stat reflects your dexterity and skill in crafting. It's primarily increased by crafting items like lockpicks, working at the Flower Shop, and playing darts. Proficiency is needed for certain Confidant ranks and for opening treasure chests in dungeons.
- Kindness: Your empathy and compassion. Kindness is raised by working at the Flower Shop, helping customers at LeBlanc, donating to charity, and making specific dialogue choices. It's a key stat for several important Confidants.
- Charm: Your charisma and appeal. Charm is increased by working at the LeBlanc cafe, serving customers, drinking certain beverages, and choosing charming dialogue options. It's vital for forming romantic relationships and progressing many Confidants.
Activities to boost social stats:
- Studying: At the library or LeBlanc, especially during rainy days for bonus points.
- Reading Books: Various books can be found or purchased, offering stat boosts.
- Part-time Jobs: Crossroads Bar (Guts), Flower Shop (Kindness, Proficiency), Maid Cafe (Charm).
- Video Games: Playing at arcades or on your console.
- Movies: Watching DVDs or going to the cinema.
