Advanced Combat Strategies
  • Technical Damage: Exploit Technicals! Hitting an enemy with a specific elemental attack while they are under a certain status ailment deals bonus 'Technical' damage. For example, hitting a Frozen enemy with a Physical or Fire attack, or a Shocked enemy with a Nuclear or Wind attack. This is crucial for maximizing damage against tougher foes.
  • Phantom Dash Combos: Don't just use Phantom Dash for ambushes. During combat, look for environmental objects (e.g., chandeliers, lampposts, cars) that glow. Phantom Dashing into these can deal significant damage, down enemies, or even trigger unique effects. Chain these into your combos.
  • Persona Skill Canceling: You can cancel out of a Persona skill animation by dodging. This is useful for avoiding incoming attacks or quickly repositioning after casting a long-animation spell.
  • Switching Characters: While Baton Pass is great, manually switching characters (D-Pad Left/Right) allows you to instantly take control of another Phantom Thief, often with a full SP bar for their Persona skills. Use this to quickly exploit weaknesses or bring in a healer.
  • Showtime Management: Don't hoard your Showtime. While powerful, it fills relatively quickly. Use it to clear large groups of enemies, interrupt powerful boss attacks, or deal burst damage when an enemy is vulnerable.
  • Buffs & Debuffs: Never underestimate the power of buffs (Tarukaja, Rakukaja, Sukukaja) and debuffs (Tarunda, Rakunda, Sukunda). Applying these to your party or enemies can significantly swing the tide of battle, especially against bosses.

Practicing these techniques will turn you into a true combat master.
