Mementos Request Walkthrough
Mementos serves as the collective unconscious of Tokyo, a sprawling, procedurally generated dungeon filled with the distorted desires of ordinary people. Within Mementos, you'll find numerous "Requests" – optional side quests that offer valuable rewards, including money, experience, and unique items. Fulfilling these requests is crucial for both character progression and for unlocking the full potential of your Phantom Thieves.
Each Request typically involves tracking down a specific Shadow within Mementos and defeating it. These Shadows are often manifestations of guilt, resentment, or other negative emotions. The location and difficulty of these Requests will vary depending on your story progression and the current "Path" of Mementos you are exploring. As you advance through the main story, new Requests will become available, often tied to the Confidants you have befriended.
Navigating Mementos for Requests:
- Accessing Requests: Requests become available through various means. Some are given by Confidants, while others are posted on the Phantom Thieves' website or discovered through dialogue.
- Mementos Structure: Mementos is divided into multiple "Paths," each with numerous "Floors." The layout of each floor is randomized, but the general theme and enemy types are consistent within a Path.
- Finding Request Targets: Once a Request is active, the target Shadow will appear on the map within Mementos. You'll need to explore the current floor to locate them. Pay attention to the minimap for any unusual enemy markers.
- Combat Strategy: The Shadows encountered in Mementos can range from relatively weak to quite challenging. Always ensure your Personas are appropriately leveled and have skills that exploit enemy weaknesses. Exploiting weaknesses leads to Downed enemies, which can then be subjected to an All-Out Attack for sificant damage.
- Rewards: Successfully completing a Request will grant you experience points, money, and often a specific item. These items can be useful for crafting, selling, or are sometimes required for other objectives.
Example of a Mementos Request:
Request Name: A Knight to Remember
Given By: A student concerned about their friend.
Target: A Shadow named "Shadow Knight" located in the Path of Kamoshida's Palace (or a similar early-game Path).
Objective: Defeat the Shadow Knight.
Reward: ¥5,000, EXP, and a "Lucky Punch" accessory.
Strategy: This early-game request might involve a Shadow with moderate physical attack power. Using Personas with strong physical resistance or elemental attacks that exploit its weakness (if any) is recommended. An All-Out Attack after downing the enemy will speed up the process.
It's highly recommended to tackle Mementos Requests whenever they become available, as they provide a steady stream of resources and help you familiarize yourself with the combat system and Persona mechanics.
