Shop Inventory and Services
Welcome to the Velvet Room and Nurse's Office, your essential hubs for preparation and recovery in Persona Q. Understanding what's available and how to best utilize these services is crucial for success in the labyrinths. This section details the inventory and services provided, along with strategies to maximize their benefits.
The Velvet Room: Persona Fusion and Compendium
Elizabeth and Theodore manage the Velvet Room, offering vital services for your Personas. This is where you'll spend a significant portion of your yen and time refining your party's combat capabilities.
Persona Fusion
- Standard Fusion: Combine two Personas to create a new, stronger one. Pay close attention to inherited skills. Certain fusions can unlock powerful abilities or create Personas with resistances tailored to upcoming labyrinth bosses.
- Skill Cards: These invaluable items allow you to teach specific skills to any Persona. Obtain Skill Cards by registering Personas with desired skills into the Compendium, then extracting the card for a fee. This is especially useful for transferring rare or powerful skills like 'Mediarama' or 'Power Charge' to your main Personas.
- Fusion Forecast: Always check the Fusion Forecast! It provides bonuses for specific fusions on certain days, such as increased stat gains, guaranteed skill inheritance, or even unique Persona creations. Planning your fusions around these forecasts can save you time and resources.
Persona Compendium
- Registration: Register every new Persona you obtain, especially after they've learned all their skills or gained significant stat boosts. This ensures you can always recall them later.
- Recall: For a fee, you can summon any Persona previously registered in your Compendium. This is essential for acquiring Skill Cards, replacing lost Personas, or experimenting with different party compositions. The cost scales with the Persona's level and stats, so be mindful of your yen.
- Strategy: Don't be afraid to fuse away Personas if you've registered them. You can always recall them. This encourages experimentation and ensures you're always progressing with stronger Personas. Prioritize registering Personas with unique or high-tier skills to make Skill Cards readily available.
Nurse's Office: Healing and Item Shop
The Nurse's Office, run by the ever-reliable Margaret, is your one-stop shop for healing and essential supplies. You'll find yourself here frequently between labyrinth delves.
Healing Services
- HP/SP Recovery: Margaret can fully restore your party's HP and SP for a fee. The cost increases with your party's average level. While tempting to always fully heal, consider if a partial heal or using recovery items might be more cost-effective if you're just topping off.
- Status Ailment Removal: All status ailments (Poison, Panic, Bind, etc.) can be cured here. This is generally cheaper than using individual items if multiple party members are afflicted.
- Revival: Fainted party members can be revived. The cost for revival is usually higher than simply healing, so try to prevent KOs in the first place.
Item Shop Inventory
The item shop's inventory expands as you progress through the game and defeat FOEs. Always check back after clearing a new labyrinth floor or defeating a major boss.
- Recovery Items:
- Medicine: Restores a small amount of HP to one ally. Early game staple.
- Ointment: Restores a moderate amount of HP to one ally.
- Mabufu Gem: Deals moderate Ice damage to all enemies. Useful for exploiting weaknesses.
- Soma: Fully restores HP and SP to all allies. Extremely rare and expensive; save these for boss fights or emergencies.
- Revival Bead: Revives one fainted ally with a small amount of HP. Always carry a few.
- Homunculus: Automatically takes a fatal blow for a party member once. Invaluable for protecting fragile characters or during tough boss encounters. Stock up when available!
- Status Cure Items:
- Dis-Poison: Cures Poison.
- Dis-Charm: Cures Charm.
- Dis-Stun: Cures Stun.
- Amrita Soda: Cures all non-fatal status ailments for one ally. A must-have for later labyrinths.
- Attack Items:
- Fire Gem, Ice Gem, Elec Gem, Wind Gem: Deal elemental damage to a single enemy. Useful for hitting weaknesses if your Personas lack the spell.
- All-Out Attack Orb: Allows a character to perform an All-Out Attack without knocking down all enemies. Situational, but can be powerful.
- Key Items (Quest Related): Occasionally, Margaret will stock items required for certain Side Quests. Always check her inventory if you're stuck on a quest.
Item Shop Strategy
- Prioritize SP Recovery: Early in the game, SP recovery items like Snuff Soul (often found in chests or as enemy drops) are crucial. Buy them when you can, but don't overspend.
- Stock Up on Revival Beads and Amrita Soda: These are your lifelines in longer dungeon crawls. Aim to have at least 3-5 of each before tackling a new labyrinth floor.
- Sell Materials: FOE and Shadow drops can be sold to Margaret for yen. This is your primary source of income. Don't hoard materials unless a specific quest requires them.
- Weapon/Armor Crafting: While not directly sold, Margaret also facilitates the crafting of new equipment using materials you obtain from Shadows and FOEs. Always check the "Forge" option to see what new gear you can create. Prioritize crafting new weapons for your main damage dealers and armor for your entire front line.
