Combat in Persona Q2 is a turn-based affair, but with several unique twists. The core mechanic revolves around exploiting enemy weaknesses. When you hit an enemy's weakness with an attack (physical or magical), that character enters a 'Boost' state. A Boosted character's next action will have increased accuracy, damage, and, most importantly, will not consume HP or SP. This is crucial for managing your resources and extending your time in the labyrinth. Missing an attack or being hit by an enemy will remove the Boost state.

Another key element is the 'All-Out Attack'. When all enemies on the field are afflicted with a status ailment (such as Dizzy, Panic, or Fear) or are knocked down by hitting their weakness, your party can unleash a devastating All-Out Attack, dealing massive damage to all remaining foes. This often serves as a powerful finisher. Understanding enemy weaknesses and managing your Boost states are fundamental to success in Persona Q2's challenging battles. Additionally, the 'Unison Attacks' allow specific pairs of characters to unleash powerful joint attacks, often with unique effects, adding another layer of strategic depth to combat.
