Post-Game Content
Congratulations, Projectionist! You've successfully navigated the treacherous labyrinths of the Cinema and brought light back to the darkened hearts. But the show isn't quite over yet! Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth offers a wealth of challenges and rewards for those dedicated enough to delve deeper into its reels. This section will guide you through all the post-game content, ensuring you don't miss a single encore.
New Game+
Upon completing the main story, you'll unlock the option to start a New Game+. This allows you to replay the entire game with certain progress carried over, making subsequent playthroughs both easier and an opportunity to explore different team compositions or difficulty settings. Here's what transfers:
- Player Level: Your protagonist's level and all acquired Persona levels will carry over.
- Persona Compendium: All registered Personas in the Velvet Room Compendium will be available from the start, along with their fusion recipes. This is invaluable for creating powerful Personas early on.
- Equipment: All weapons, armor, and accessories obtained will be in your inventory.
- Items: Consumable items, key items (excluding story-specific ones), and materials will carry over.
- Money (Yen): Your accumulated wealth will transfer, allowing for early purchases of powerful gear.
- Map Data: Your meticulously drawn maps of the labyrinths will remain, saving you time on exploration.
Strategy Tip: New Game+ is the perfect opportunity to tackle the game on a higher difficulty, such as Risky, or to experiment with characters you didn't focus on in your first playthrough. With powerful Personas and equipment from the start, you can dominate early encounters and focus on optimizing your team for later challenges.
Special Screenings (Optional Bosses)
The true test of a seasoned Projectionist lies in the Special Screenings – a series of incredibly challenging optional boss battles. These encounters are designed to push your team to its limits and require meticulous planning, optimal Persona fusions, and a deep understanding of game mechanics. Access to these screenings is typically granted through specific requests at the Nurse's Office after completing the main story.
The Shadow of the Abyss
- Location: This Special Screening is usually found in the "A.I.G.I.S. - The Ultimate Weapon" labyrinth, accessible after accepting the corresponding request.
- Strategy: The Shadow of the Abyss is a multi-phase boss with high resistances and devastating elemental attacks.
- Phase 1: Focus on debuffing its attack and defense while buffing your party. Utilize skills like Tarunda and Rakunda.
- Phase 2: The boss will begin to use powerful Almighty attacks. Ensure your healer (e.g., Yukari, Teddie, Futaba as a Navigator) is equipped with skills like Mediarahan and Samarecarm. Consider using Guard commands frequently, especially for characters with elemental weaknesses.
- Recommended Personas: Fuse Personas with high Endurance and resistances to common elements. Messiah (with Enduring Soul) and Satanael (for raw power) are excellent choices.
- Reward: Defeating this boss often yields rare materials for crafting ultimate weapons and armor, such as the Abyssal Core, and unlocks a powerful Skill Card.
The Eternal Enigma
- Location: This formidable foe is typically found in the "Kamoshida's Palace" labyrinth, requiring a specific request completion.
- Strategy: The Eternal Enigma is known for its ability to inflict a wide array of debilitating status ailments and its high evasion.
- Preparation: Equip accessories that grant immunity to status effects like Panic, Fear, and Bind. Skills like Salvation or Amrita Shower are crucial for recovery.
- Offensive Focus: Since its evasion is high, consider using characters with high Accuracy or skills that guarantee hits. Physical skills with high critical rates can also be effective if you can land them.
- Recommended Personas: Personas with high Agility and Luck, or those that nullify status ailments, are highly recommended. Alice (for Die For Me!) and Yoshitsune (for Hassou Tobi) are strong damage dealers if you can mitigate their weaknesses.
- Reward: Victory against the Eternal Enigma often grants the Enigmatic Shard, a key ingredient for top-tier accessories, and a unique Skill Card that grants status ailment immunity.
Persona Compendium Completion
For the completionist, filling out the entire Persona Compendium is a significant post-game endeavor. This involves fusing every possible Persona, including those with unique fusion requirements or those only available at very high levels.
- Fusion Strategies:
- Triangle Fusion: The most common method, combining three Personas.
- Special Fusions: Certain powerful Personas, like Lucifer or Satan, require specific combinations of multiple Personas. Consult a reliable fusion calculator (such as the one linked in the reference material) to streamline this process.
- Skill Inheritance: Pay attention to skill inheritance during fusion to create Personas with optimized skill sets for specific roles (e.g., dedicated healers, elemental attackers, physical powerhouses).
- Grinding for Materials: You'll need a lot of Yen and Persona materials to complete the Compendium. Revisit labyrinths with high-level FOEs or rare Shadows to farm for valuable items.
- Reward: Completing the Persona Compendium often unlocks a special reward, such as a powerful accessory or a unique Persona for your protagonist.
Ultimate Equipment Crafting
The post-game is also the time to craft the absolute best equipment for your entire party. This involves collecting rare materials from Special Screenings, powerful FOEs, and high-level Shadows in the later labyrinths.
- Material Gathering:
- FOE Drops: Many ultimate weapon materials, like the "Shadow Core" or "Abyssal Gem", are dropped by defeated FOEs. Revisit labyrinths and strategically defeat these powerful enemies.
- Rare Shadow Drops: Some rare Shadows, particularly in the final labyrinth, drop unique materials needed for top-tier armor.
- Special Screening Rewards: As mentioned, defeating optional bosses is a primary source of the rarest crafting components.
- Crafting at the Workshop: Once you have the necessary materials and Yen, head to the Workshop to forge these powerful items. Prioritize weapons for your main damage dealers and armor for your frontline characters.
Maxing Out Social Links (Bonds)
While not strictly "post-game" in the same way as optional bosses, fully maxing out all character Bonds (Social Links) is a significant undertaking that often extends into the post-game, especially if you didn't prioritize them during your initial playthrough. Stronger Bonds unlock powerful Unity Skills and provide stat bonuses.
- Strategy:
- Attend Events: Regularly check the school map for available Bond events.
- Gift Giving: Give characters their preferred gifts to boost their Bond points more quickly.
- Team Composition: Having characters in your active party can sometimes influence Bond progression.
- Reward: Maxing out all Bonds provides a deeper understanding of the characters and unlocks the most powerful Unity Skills, which can be invaluable in the toughest post-game challenges.
