Gym Leader Roxie's Team:
| Pokémon | Type | Level | Moves |
|---|---|---|---|
| Koffing | Poison | Lvl 16 | Tackle, Smog, Assurance, Clear Smog |
| Whirlipede | Bug/Poison | Lvl 18 | Poison Sting, Pursuit, Protect, Venoshock |
Strategy:
Roxie uses Poison-type Pokémon, which are weak to Ground and Psychic-type moves. Bug/Poison-types (like Whirlipede) are also weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock-type moves. Be prepared for status conditions, specifically Poison.

- Koffing: Koffing can inflict Poison with Smog and remove stat changes with Clear Smog. It's not particularly threatening offensively. Hit it with Ground or Psychic moves.
- Whirlipede: This is Roxie's ace. Its Bug/Poison typing gives it several weaknesses. Ground-type moves are still super effective. Fire-type moves (from Tepig/Pignite or a Growlithe) are also very effective. Flying-type moves (from a Pidove or other Flying-type) will also deal super effective damage. Be cautious of Venoshock, which deals double damage if your Pokémon is already poisoned.
Recommended Pokémon: Magnemite (Electric/Steel, found in Virbank Complex) is excellent as it resists Poison and can hit Whirlipede with Electric moves. A Pignite (Fire/Fighting) is also very strong against Whirlipede. Any Ground-type Pokémon (like Sandile from Route 4, though you might not have it yet) would also be ideal. Bring Antidotes to cure Poison.
