Post-Game Areas and Challenges
Congratulations, Trainer! You've conquered the Pokémon League and become the Champion of Unova. But the journey is far from over. Unova still holds many secrets, powerful Pokémon, and challenging battles for you to discover. This section will guide you through the exciting post-game content, helping you become the ultimate Pokémon Master.
Unlocking New Areas
After defeating the Elite Four and N, your adventure continues. Several new areas become accessible, offering new Pokémon, items, and trainers to battle. Here's how to unlock them:
- Route 15 & Marvelous Bridge: Head to the eastern gate of Nimbasa City. The previously blocked path to Route 15 is now open. Traverse this short route to reach the impressive Marvelous Bridge, where you can find the rare Pokémon, Mandibuzz (Black) or Braviary (White), soaring above.
- Black City (Black Version) / White Forest (White Version): From the Marvelous Bridge, continue east onto Route 16. Follow this route north and then east to reach the unique version-exclusive areas.
- Black City: This bustling metropolis in Pokémon Black offers daily battles against high-leveled trainers and several shops with exclusive items. The trainers and items available change daily, so check back often!
- White Forest: In Pokémon White, White Forest is a serene natural reserve where you can encounter Pokémon from previous generations that are otherwise unavailable in Unova. The Pokémon that appear depend on the trainers you've interacted with via the Entralink.
- Route 13 & Giant Chasm: From Route 15, head south to Route 13. This winding coastal route leads to the mysterious Giant Chasm, home to the legendary Pokémon, Kyurem. Be prepared for strong wild Pokémon and trainers here.
- Undella Town & Marine Tube: After reaching Undella Town (accessible via Route 13), you'll find the Marine Tube, a breathtaking underwater tunnel connecting to Humilau City. This area is essential for completing your Pokédex and accessing further challenges.
- Route 14 & Abundant Shrine: From Undella Town, head north onto Route 14. This route leads to the tranquil Abundant Shrine, where you can encounter the legendary Pokémon, Tornadus (Black) or Thundurus (White), after speaking to the old woman in the nearby house.
- Victory Road (Revisit): The northern part of Victory Road, previously blocked, is now open. This area contains stronger trainers and valuable items, including TM02 Dragon Claw.
Legendary Pokémon Encounters
The Unova region is home to several powerful legendary Pokémon that you can now seek out and capture:
- Reshiram / Zekrom: If you didn't capture your version's legendary during the main story, you can return to N's Castle after defeating the Elite Four. Reshiram (Black) or Zekrom (White) will be waiting for you there. Ensure you have plenty of Ultra Balls and a strong team.
- Kyurem: Travel to the Giant Chasm (accessible via Route 13). Navigate through the caves until you reach the frozen cavern where Kyurem resides. It will be at Level 75, so bring a well-trained team and status-inducing moves.
- Tornadus (Black) / Thundurus (White): After obtaining the National Pokédex, visit the old woman in the house near the Abundant Shrine on Route 14. She will tell you about the roaming legendary. Once activated, Tornadus or Thundurus will randomly appear in various routes across Unova. Check the weather reports on the bulletin boards in gatehouses to track its current location.
- Landorus: To encounter Landorus, you must have both Tornadus and Thundurus in your party. Take them to the Abundant Shrine and interact with the shrine itself. Landorus will appear at Level 70.
- Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion: These three legendary Pokémon can be found in specific locations after the main story.
- Cobalion: Found in Mistralton Cave (accessible via Route 6). You'll need Surf and Strength.
- Terrakion: Located in the Trial Chamber, a hidden area within Victory Road.
- Virizion: Found in Pinwheel Forest, in a clearing accessible after the main story.
Challenging the Battle Subway
Located in Nimbasa City, the Battle Subway offers a rigorous test of your Pokémon battling skills. Here, you'll face off against a series of trainers with increasingly powerful Pokémon. There are several lines to choose from, each with different rules and challenges:
- Single Battle Line: Standard 3-on-3 battles.
- Double Battle Line: 4-on-4 battles, using two Pokémon at a time.
- Multi Battle Line: Team up with an NPC or a friend for 4-on-4 battles.
- Wi-Fi Battle Line: Battle against other players online.
- Super Lines: After achieving a certain win streak on the regular lines, you'll unlock the "Super" versions, featuring even stronger opponents and tougher challenges.
Strategy Tips:
- Build a balanced team with good type coverage.
- Focus on Pokémon with high Speed and offensive stats.
- Consider using Pokémon with abilities that boost stats or disrupt opponents.
- Items like Choice Scarf, Life Orb, and Focus Sash are invaluable.
- Save your game frequently outside the Battle Subway, as losing your streak means starting over.
Exploring the Royal Unova
The Royal Unova is a luxurious cruise ship that sails nightly from Castelia City. For a small fee, you can board the ship and engage in battles with other passengers. The trainers and their Pokémon vary each night, and you can earn valuable items and experience. This is a great way to level up your team and earn some extra cash.
Rematches with Gym Leaders and the Elite Four
After becoming Champion, you can challenge the Gym Leaders and the Elite Four again. Their teams will be stronger, with higher-leveled Pokémon and more strategic movesets. This is an excellent opportunity to test your skills and earn more experience and money.
- Gym Leaders: Return to each Gym and speak to the Gym Leader to initiate a rematch. Their Pokémon will be significantly stronger than your initial encounter.
- Elite Four: Head back to the Pokémon League. The Elite Four's teams will also be powered up, providing a true challenge for the Champion.
Completing the National Pokédex
With access to new areas and the ability to trade with other players, your ultimate post-game goal should be to complete the National Pokédex. This involves catching all 649 Pokémon from all regions. use the GTS (Global Trade System) in any Pokémon Center to trade with players worldwide and fill in those missing entries.
