Story Bosses & Their Pokémon

This section details the primary antagonists you'll face throughout Pokémon Colosseum's story, along with their Shadow Pokémon. Successfully snagging these Shadow Pokémon is crucial for completing your Snag List and purifying them.

Remember to always come prepared! Stock up on Great Balls, Ultra Balls, and even a few Timer Balls for those stubborn captures. Status effects like Sleep or Paralysis are invaluable for increasing your snag rate. Don't forget healing items like Potions and Revives for your own team.

Cipher Admin Miror B. (Pyrite Town)

Your first encounter with the flamboyant Miror B. will be in Pyrite Town, after dealing with the various Team Snagem members. He's guarding the entrance to the Pyrite Cave.

  • Location: Pyrite Town, outside Pyrite Cave.
  • Pokémon:
    • Shadow Sudowoodo (Lv. 30): This Rock-type can be a nuisance. Consider using Water or Grass-type attacks to whittle down its HP. Be careful not to knock it out!
    • Ludicolo (Lv. 28)
    • Ludicolo (Lv. 28)
    • Ludicolo (Lv. 28)
    • Ludicolo (Lv. 28)
  • Strategy: Focus your efforts on Shadow Sudowoodo first. Use Pokémon with False Swipe or Hold Back if you have them to safely reduce its HP to critical levels. Once its HP is low and it's afflicted with a status condition (Sleep is ideal), start throwing those Great Balls. The three regular Ludicolo are relatively easy to handle with Electric or Grass-type moves.
  • Recommended Items: Great Balls (15-20), Sleep Powder/Thunder Wave users, Super Potions.

Cipher Admin Dakim (Mt. Battle)

Dakim is encountered at the top of Mt. Battle, after you've cleared all 100 trainers in the challenge. He's a formidable opponent, and his Shadow Pokémon can be quite powerful.

  • Location: Mt. Battle, Peak.
  • Pokémon:
    • Shadow Entei (Lv. 40): A legendary Fire-type! Entei hits hard with Fire Blast. Ground, Rock, and Water-type attacks are super effective. Be extremely cautious with its HP.
    • Houndoom (Lv. 38)
    • Medicham (Lv. 37)
    • Swellow (Lv. 36)
    • Mantine (Lv. 35)
  • Strategy: This is your first legendary Shadow Pokémon, so prioritize its capture. Bring a Pokémon with a move like Spore or Sleep Powder (e.g., Breloom, Vileplume) to put Entei to sleep immediately. Then, use False Swipe or weak attacks to get its HP into the red. Once it's asleep and low on HP, start throwing Ultra Balls. The other Pokémon can be dealt with using type advantages: Water for Houndoom, Flying for Medicham, Electric/Ice for Swellow, and Electric/Rock for Mantine.
  • Recommended Items: Ultra Balls (20-30), Timer Balls (5-10), Full Restores, Revives, status-inducing moves.

Cipher Admin Venus (Under Colosseum)

Venus, with her alluring yet dangerous style, awaits you in the depths of the Under Colosseum. Her Shadow Pokémon is another legendary beast.

  • Location: Under Colosseum, deepest level.
  • Pokémon:
    • Shadow Suicune (Lv. 40): This Water-type legendary is known for its defensive prowess. Electric and Grass-type moves are your best bet.
    • Delcatty (Lv. 38)
    • Milotic (Lv. 37)
    • Misdreavus (Lv. 36)
    • Wigglytuff (Lv. 35)
  • Strategy: Similar to Entei, focus on snagging Suicune first. Get its HP low and inflict a status condition like Sleep or Paralysis. Ultra Balls and Timer Balls will be your friends here. For the rest of her team, Electric or Grass-type attacks will make quick work of Milotic. Delcatty and Wigglytuff are Normal-types, so Fighting moves are effective. Misdreavus is a Ghost-type, vulnerable to Ghost and Dark moves.
  • Recommended Items: Ultra Balls (20-30), Timer Balls (5-10), Full Restores, Revives, status-inducing moves.

Cipher Admin Ein (Deep Colosseum)

Ein, the scientific mastermind, will challenge you in the Deep Colosseum. Be ready for a tough fight, as he brings the final legendary beast.

  • Location: Deep Colosseum.
  • Pokémon:
    • Shadow Raikou (Lv. 40): The Electric-type legendary. Ground-type attacks are super effective. Be wary of its speed and powerful Electric moves.
    • Manectric (Lv. 38)
    • Electrode (Lv. 37)
    • Ampharos (Lv. 36)
    • Jolteon (Lv. 35)
  • Strategy: Raikou is fast and hits hard. Lead with a strong Ground-type Pokémon (e.g., Donphan, Groudon if you have it from trade) or a Pokémon that can inflict Sleep or Paralysis. Reduce its HP carefully and start throwing Ultra Balls or Timer Balls. Ein's entire team is Electric-type, making Ground-type Pokémon and moves incredibly effective against all of them. Consider bringing multiple Ground-types or Pokémon with Ground-type coverage moves.
  • Recommended Items: Ultra Balls (20-30), Timer Balls (5-10), Full Restores, Revives, Ground-type Pokémon, status-inducing moves.

Cipher Boss Nascour (Realgam Tower)

The true leader of Cipher, Nascour, is the penultimate challenge. His team is diverse and powerful, including a very important Shadow Pokémon.

  • Location: Realgam Tower, top floor.
  • Pokémon:
    • Shadow Metagross (Lv. 48): This Steel/Psychic-type pseudo-legendary is incredibly strong. Fire and Ground-type attacks are super effective. It has high defense, so prepare for a longer battle.
    • Blaziken (Lv. 46)
    • Sceptile (Lv. 46)
    • Swampert (Lv. 46)
    • Slaking (Lv. 45)
  • Strategy: Metagross is a beast. Use Fire or Ground-type moves to lower its HP, and inflict a status condition. Ultra Balls and Timer Balls are essential. Nascour's team is a mix of powerful Pokémon. The three Hoenn starters (Blaziken, Sceptile, Swampert) require careful type matching. Blaziken is Fire/Fighting (Water, Ground, Flying, Psychic), Sceptile is Grass (Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison, Bug), and Swampert is Water/Ground (Grass is 4x effective!). Slaking is a Normal-type with immense attack but the Truant ability, meaning it only attacks every other turn. Use this to your advantage for healing or setting up.
  • Recommended Items: Ultra Balls (25-35), Timer Balls (10-15), Full Restores, Revives, Max Potions, a diverse team with good type coverage.

Grand Master Greevil (Realgame Tower - Post-Nascour)

The true mastermind behind Cipher, Greevil, reveals himself after Nascour's defeat. He wields an army of powerful Shadow Pokémon, making this the ultimate challenge.

  • Location: Realgam Tower, after Nascour.
  • Pokémon:
    • Shadow Lugia (Lv. 50): The ultimate Shadow Pokémon. A Psychic/Flying-type, Lugia is incredibly resilient. Electric, Ice, Rock, and Ghost-type attacks are super effective. This will be your toughest snag.
    • Shadow Rhydon (Lv. 48): Ground/Rock-type. Weak to Water (4x), Grass (4x), Ice, Fighting, Steel.
    • Shadow Tauros (Lv. 48): Normal-type. Weak to Fighting.
    • Shadow Exeggutor (Lv. 48): Grass/Psychic-type. Weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison, Bug, Ghost, Dark.
    • Shadow Arcanine (Lv. 48): Fire-type. Weak to Water, Ground, Rock.
    • Shadow Salamence (Lv. 48): Dragon/Flying-type. Weak to Ice (4x), Rock, Dragon, Fairy.
  • Strategy: This is it. All six of Greevil's Pokémon are Shadow Pokémon, and you need to snag them all. Prioritize Shadow Lugia. It has a high catch rate, but its HP and defenses are immense. Bring a Pokémon with False Swipe and a reliable sleep-inducing move (e.g., Spore from Breloom). Once Lugia is asleep and at 1 HP, start throwing those Ultra Balls and Timer Balls. This battle will likely take many turns. For the other Shadow Pokémon, apply the same strategy: lower HP, inflict status, and throw balls. Remember their types and weaknesses. Having a strong Ice-type for Salamence, a Water-type for Rhydon and Arcanine, and a Fighting-type for Tauros will be very helpful. Don't be afraid to use Full Restores and Max Potions on your own team. This is a marathon, not a sprint!
  • Recommended Items: Ultra Balls (50+), Timer Balls (20+), Full Restores (10+), Revives (10+), Max Potions (10+), Full Heals (5+), a dedicated False Swiper, and multiple Pokémon with reliable sleep/paralysis moves.
