Snagging Shadow Pokémon is the cornerstone of Pokémon Colosseum's gameplay. You'll need several Poké Balls to successfully capture these corrupted creatures.
- Poké Ball: The most basic and cheapest ball. Has a low catch rate. Useful for early-game Shadow Pokémon or when you're low on funds.
- Great Ball: A more effective ball than the Poké Ball, with a higher catch rate. A good all-around choice for most Shadow Pokémon.
- Ultra Ball: The most effective standard ball, offering the highest catch rate. Essential for snagging stronger or more elusive Shadow Pokémon, especially the Legendary Beasts.
- Master Ball: A legendary ball with a 100% catch rate. Only one is available in the game (usually found late-game or as a special reward). Save it for a critical Shadow Pokémon you absolutely cannot afford to lose, such as a Legendary Beast if you're struggling.
Snagging Strategy: Always weaken the Shadow Pokémon as much as possible without knocking it out. Status conditions like Sleep or Paralysis significantly increase your chances of a successful snag. Avoid using moves that deal critical hits or have a high chance of knocking out the target.
