Trainer List & Teams (Optional/Re-battles)
Once you've conquered the main story of Pokémon Colosseum, the adventure in Orre is far from over! Many trainers you've faced throughout your journey are eager for a rematch, often with stronger, evolved Pokémon, and in some rare cases, even new Shadow Pokémon for you to Snag. These optional re-battles are crucial for leveling up your team, earning extra cash, completing your Shadow Pokémon collection, and truly testing your mettle as a Pokémon Trainer. This comprehensive section details key trainers, their locations, their updated teams, and strategies to ensure your victory.
I. Pyrite Town Re-battles
Pyrite Town, the bustling desert city, transforms into a hub for re-battles after you complete the main story. Not only does the Pyrite Colosseum offer a consistent challenge, but specific trainers can also be found wandering the streets, ready for a rematch.
A. Pyrite Colosseum
The Pyrite Colosseum offers a continuous challenge with rotating trainers. This is an excellent place to grind experience, earn money, and refine your battle strategies.
- Location: Pyrite Town, accessible from the main street.
- Challenge: Engage in a series of four double battles against various trainers. The trainers and their teams here rotate, but generally feature high-level Pokémon (Lv. 50-60) from diverse types.
- Strategy: Bring a balanced team with diverse type coverage. Status conditions (Sleep, Paralysis, Freeze) are highly effective, especially against bulkier opponents. Consider using a Pokémon with a move like "False Swipe" if you're aiming to Snag any remaining Shadow Pokémon from these battles, though they are exceedingly rare here. Focus on exploiting type weaknesses and managing your team's HP and PP.
- Rewards: Winning the Pyrite Colosseum challenge consistently rewards you with valuable items. The specific item can vary, but common rewards include:
- HP Up (Quantity: 1) - Increases a Pokémon's HP EVs.
- Protein (Quantity: 1) - Increases a Pokémon's Attack EVs.
- Iron (Quantity: 1) - Increases a Pokémon's Defense EVs.
- Carbos (Quantity: 1) - Increases a Pokémon's Speed EVs.
- Calcium (Quantity: 1) - Increases a Pokémon's Special Attack EVs.
- Zinc (Quantity: 1) - Increases a Pokémon's Special Defense EVs.
- Occasionally, a rare TM like TM02 (Dragon Claw) or TM13 (Ice Beam).
- Substantial cash prize (approx. 5,000 - 8,000 Pokedollars).
B. Street Trainer - Miror B. Fan
After defeating Miror B. for the final time, a trainer obsessed with him can sometimes be found near the entrance to the Pyrite Colosseum. They typically use a team reminiscent of Miror B.'s, focusing on Ludicolo.
- Location: Near the Pyrite Colosseum entrance, wandering the street.
- Team Example:
- Ludicolo (Lv. 55) - Water/Grass
- Sudowoodo (Lv. 54) - Rock
- Armaldo (Lv. 53) - Rock/Bug
- Shiftry (Lv. 52) - Grass/Dark
- Strategy: Electric and Flying-type moves are excellent against Ludicolo. Grass and Water types can handle Sudowoodo and Armaldo respectively. Fire or Fighting moves will be effective against Shiftry. Be mindful of Ludicolo's Swift Swim ability if it's raining.
- Reward: Approximately 3,000 - 4,500 Pokedollars.
II. Under Colosseum Re-battles
The Under Colosseum, accessible via The Under, also offers re-battles. These trainers are often tougher than those in Pyrite and can sometimes yield unique Shadow Pokémon, making them crucial for completionists.
A. Under Colosseum
Similar to Pyrite, the Under Colosseum features rotating trainers with high-level Pokémon. The rewards are often more substantial, including rare Berries and powerful TMs.
- Location: The Under, accessible after completing the main story.
- Challenge: Engage in a series of four double battles. Expect a higher difficulty curve compared to Pyrite, with Pokémon generally ranging from Lv. 55-65.
- Strategy: Ensure your Pokémon are well-trained and have strong offensive moves. Healing items like Full Restore and Max Potion are essential. Prioritize taking out threats quickly and managing your team's health. Dark and Ghost-type moves are often useful against the Psychic and Ghost-types prevalent in some Under teams.
- Rewards: Winning the Under Colosseum offers superior rewards:
- Rare Berries (e.g., Liechi Berry, Salac Berry, Petaya Berry, Apicot Berry) - These are crucial for competitive battling.
- Powerful TMs such as TM26 (Earthquake), TM29 (Psychic), or TM35 (Flamethrower).
- Significant cash prize (approx. 7,000 - 10,000 Pokedollars).
B. Cipher Peon (Under)
Occasionally, a lingering Cipher Peon can be found in The Under, eager for a rematch. These battles are often the source of some of the last few Shadow Pokémon you might need to complete your collection.
- Location: Various spots within The Under, often near the entrance to the Under Colosseum or the residential areas. They may not always be present, so check back periodically.
- Team Example (Shadow Pokémon Encounter):
- Shadow Sneasel (Lv. 58) - Dark/Ice (Snaggable!)
- Houndoom (Lv. 57) - Dark/Fire
- Skarmory (Lv. 56) - Steel/Flying
- Electabuzz (Lv. 55) - Electric
- Strategy: If you encounter a Shadow Sneasel, prioritize Snagging it! Use a Pokémon with a status move like "Thunder Wave" or "Spore" and weaken it carefully with non-super effective moves. Fighting and Fire-type moves are effective against Sneasel and Skarmory respectively. Ground-type moves will handle Electabuzz, and Water/Ground types can counter Houndoom.
- Reward: Approximately 4,000 - 6,000 Pokedollars, plus the potential to Snag a rare Shadow Pokémon.

After completing the main story, speak to the Mayor's Aide in the Phenac City Mayor's House. He will challenge you to a battle with a surprisingly strong team, showcasing a diverse range of Pokémon.

Ground-type moves are also super effective against Jolteon. Be prepared for high Special Attack from Alakazam and Starmie, and consider using Pokémon with high Special Defense.
- Reward: Defeating him often yields a substantial amount of cash (approx. 6,000 - 9,000 Pokedollars) and sometimes a rare item like a Max Revive or a Rare Candy.

V. Realgam Tower Re-battles
Even after the main story's conclusion, some remnants of Cipher's influence remain in Realgam Tower. A few trainers here will offer challenging rematches, often with high-level Pokémon.
A. Realgam Tower Gate Trainer
The trainer guarding the entrance to Realgam Tower may offer a rematch.
- Location: Realgam Tower, near the main gate.
- Team Example:
- Magneton (Lv. 58) - Electric/Steel
- Lanturn (Lv. 57) - Water/Electric
- Ampharos (Lv. 59) - Electric
- Manectric (Lv. 56) - Electric
- Strategy: This trainer specializes in Electric-type Pokémon. Ground-type moves are overwhelmingly effective here. A single strong Ground-type Pokémon can sweep this team. Grass-type moves can also work against Lanturn.

- Strategy: This trainer focuses on bulky Normal-type Pokémon. Fighting-type moves are your best friend here, dealing super effective damage to all of them. Be prepared for high HP and powerful attacks. Slaking's Truant ability means it only attacks every other turn, which you can exploit.
- Reward: Approximately 7,000 - 9,000 Pokedollars.
VI. Deep Colosseum (Mt. Battle)
While not a "re-battle" in the traditional sense, the Deep Colosseum at Mt. Battle becomes available after you clear the main story and is the ultimate post-game challenge. It features the strongest trainers and highest-level Pokémon in the game, providing the ultimate test of your team's strength and your strategic prowess.
- Location: Mt. Battle, accessible after clearing all 100 trainers on Mt. Battle's main challenge (Sections 1-10).
- Challenge: This Colosseum features five rounds of incredibly tough double battles against trainers with fully evolved, high-level Pokémon (Lv. 65-75+). Expect optimized teams, strategic move sets, and sometimes even legendary Pokémon. This is where your best-trained, fully purified, and EV-trained Pokémon will truly shine.
- Strategy: This challenge demands a meticulously planned team. Focus on powerful STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) moves, strategic switches to gain type advantages, and effective use of items (though item use is limited in Colosseum battles). Consider having a dedicated "tank" Pokémon to absorb hits, strong special and physical attackers, and Pokémon with supportive moves like "Light Screen," "Reflect," or status conditions. Type coverage is paramount.
- Rewards: Winning the Deep Colosseum is a monumental achievement and awards you:
- The prestigious Earth Badge, a symbol of your mastery.
- Access to the Battle Mode features, allowing you to link with other Game Boy Advance games.
- A significant amount of cash (often 10,000+ Pokedollars per win).
- Rare items such as Master Ball (first win), Lucky Egg, or other valuable TMs.
General Re-battle Tips:
- Level Up: These re-battles are excellent for grinding experience. Your Pokémon should ideally be in the Lv. 60-75 range for the toughest challenges.
- Money Grinding: Winning these battles provides substantial cash, which can be used to buy essential items like Full Restores, Max Potions, and Ultra Balls.
- Shadow Pokémon: Always be prepared to Snag any Shadow Pokémon you encounter. Have plenty of Ultra Balls and a Pokémon with a status-inducing move (e.g., Sleep Powder, Thunder Wave) and a move like False Swipe.
- Purification: Use these battles to accumulate experience and purify any remaining Shadow Pokémon in your collection.
- Team Composition: A balanced team with diverse type coverage is crucial. Consider Pokémon that can hit multiple opponents in double battles (e.g., Earthquake, Surf, Rock Slide).
