Pokémon Colosseum is almost exclusively double battles, requiring different strategies than single battles:

- Target Focus: In double battles, you can choose to focus both your Pokémon's attacks on a single opponent to quickly eliminate a threat.
- Spread Damage: Moves like Earthquake, Surf, Rock Slide, and Discharge hit both opponents (and potentially your partner). Use these strategically. Protect your partner with moves like Protect or by having a Pokémon with an ability like Levitate (for Earthquake) or Water Absorb (for Surf).
- Support Moves: Moves like Reflect, Light Screen, Tailwind, and status-inflicting moves (Thunder Wave, Sleep Powder, Will-O-Wisp) are incredibly powerful in double battles.
- Type Synergy: Build a team with good type synergy. For example, a Grass/Water core covers many weaknesses. A Pokémon with Intimidate (like Arcanine) can lower opponents' Attack, benefiting your physically defensive Pokémon.
- Switching: Don't be afraid to switch Pokémon to gain a type advantage or protect a weakened ally.
- Item Usage: Use X items to boost your stats, or Full Heals to remove debilitating status conditions.
Practice makes perfect. The more double battles you engage in, the better you'll become at anticipating your opponent's moves and coordinating your own.
