Pokémon:

  • Geodude (Lv. 12): Rock/Ground. Ability: Rock Head. Moves: Tackle, Defense Curl, Rock Throw.
  • Onix (Lv. 12): Rock/Ground. Ability: Rock Head. Moves: Tackle, Screech, Rock Throw.
  • Cranidos (Lv. 14): Rock. Ability: Mold Breaker. Moves: Headbutt, Leer, Pursuit.

Weaknesses: Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, Steel (Cranidos is only weak to Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, Steel).

Strategy:

  • If you chose Piplup: Water Gun will make short work of Geodude and Onix. Cranidos will also take heavy damage.
  • If you chose Turtwig: Absorb and Razor Leaf are super effective against all of Roark's team.
  • If you chose Chimchar: This is the toughest matchup. Consider catching a Machop in Oreburgh Gate (Fighting-type moves are super effective) or a Budew on Route 204 (Grass-type moves). Chimchar's Ember is not very effective.
  • General Tips: Focus on super-effective moves. Geodude and Onix have high Defense, so special attacks or strong physical attacks are best. Cranidos has high Attack but low defenses, making it vulnerable to special attacks. heal if your Pokémon get low on HP.

Reward: Coal Badge, TM76 (Stealth Rock)
