Catching Pokémon is a core mechanic, and different Poké Balls offer varying catch rates and effects:
- Poké Ball: Standard ball, 1x catch rate.
- Great Ball: Improved ball, 1.5x catch rate.
- Ultra Ball: Best standard ball, 2x catch rate.
- Master Ball: Catches any Pokémon without fail. Only one per game (usually).
- Premier Ball: Given as a bonus when buying 10 Poké Balls. Same catch rate as a Poké Ball.
- Net Ball: 3x catch rate on Water and Bug-type Pokémon.
- Dive Ball: 3.5x catch rate on Pokémon encountered underwater (not applicable in DP, but good for fishing).
- Nest Ball: Higher catch rate on lower-level Pokémon.
- Repeat Ball: 3x catch rate on Pokémon you've already caught.
- Timer Ball: Catch rate increases as the battle lengthens (up to 4x).
- Dusk Ball: 3.5x catch rate at night or in caves.
- Quick Ball: 5x catch rate if used on the first turn of battle.
