Eterna City Gym: Gardenia
  • Cherubi (Lv. 19): Grass type. Weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison, Bug.
  • Grotle (Lv. 19): Grass type. Weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison, Bug.
  • Roserade (Lv. 22): Grass/Poison type. Weak to Fire, Ice, Flying, Psychic. This is her ace Pokémon.

Strategy: Fire-type Pokémon (like Chimchar's evolutions) are excellent here. Flying-type Pokémon (like Staravia) and Poison-type Pokémon (like Roselia, if you caught one) are also very effective. If you chose Piplup, its Steel typing (as Empoleon) will resist Grass, but its Water moves won't be super effective. Turtwig will struggle here. Be wary of Roserade's Poison-type moves. After defeating Gardenia, you'll receive the Forest Badge, allowing you to use Cut outside of battle, and TM86 (Grass Knot). You'll also receive the Explorer Kit from the Underground Man, allowing you to access the Grand Underground.
