Team Galactic Warehouse and Route 214

After securing your third Gym Badge from Maylene in Veilstone City, your next destination is the Team Galactic Warehouse. This pivotal location will grant you access to a crucial Hidden Machine (HM) that significantly streamlines your journey across Sinnoh.

The Team Galactic Warehouse Showdown

  1. Locate the Warehouse: From the Veilstone City Gym, head directly east until you reach the northeastern corner of the city. The large, imposing building with the distinctive Galactic logo is your target.
  2. Rival Rendezvous: As you approach, you'll find your energetic rival, Barry, and either Dawn or Lucas (depending on your chosen gender) already confronting two Team Galactic Grunts. They seem to be in a predicament, and it's up to you to lend a hand!
  3. Double Battle Engagement: Prepare for a Double Battle! You and your rival (or Dawn/Lucas) will team up against the two Team Galactic Grunts.
    • Grunt 1's Pokémon:
      • Zubat (Level 25) - Flying/Poison type. Weak to Electric, Ice, Psychic, Rock.
      • Stunky (Level 25) - Poison/Dark type. Weak to Ground.
    • Grunt 2's Pokémon:
      • Zubat (Level 25) - Flying/Poison type. Weak to Electric, Ice, Psychic, Rock.
      • Stunky (Level 25) - Poison/Dark type. Weak to Ground.
    • Strategy Tip: Focus fire on one Pokémon at a time to quickly reduce the number of opponents. Ground-type moves are excellent against Stunky, while Electric or Psychic moves can handle Zubat. Your partner will assist with their own Pokémon, often using status conditions or weaker attacks.
  4. Reward: HM02 (Fly): After a successful battle, the Grunts will flee. As a token of gratitude and a vital tool for your adventure, you will receive HM02 (Fly).
    • HM02 (Fly) Functionality: This HM allows you to instantly travel to any Pokémon Center you have previously visited. It's an invaluable tool for backtracking, reaching remote locations, and speeding up your journey.
    • Requirement: To use Fly outside of battle, you must have obtained the Cobalt Badge (from Maylene).

Route 214 Items and Hidden Areas

Don't just rush through! Route 214 is dotted with valuable items, some openly visible, others cleverly concealed. Take your time to explore every nook and cranny.

  • Visible Items:
    • Max Repel: Found near the northern entrance of the route, often visible on the main path.
    • TM28 (Dig): Located in the southwestern part of the route, near the entrance to the Ruin Maniac's cave. This TM teaches a useful Ground-type move that also allows you to escape caves.
    • Big Mushroom: Often found near the southern end of the route, sometimes requiring a slight detour off the main path.
  • Hidden Items (Requires Dowsing Machine/Itemfinder):
    • Heart Scale: Often hidden in the grassy patches or near the rocky formations. Use your Dowsing Machine diligently! Heart Scales are invaluable for remembering forgotten moves.
    • Rare Candy: Occasionally found in secluded spots or dead ends. A guaranteed level-up for one of your Pokémon.
    • Tiny Mushroom: Scattered throughout the route, especially in grassy areas. Sell these for a small profit.
  • Manic Tunnel (Optional Detour):
    • On the western side of Route 214, you'll notice a small cave entrance, often guarded by a Ruin Maniac. This is the Manic Tunnel.
    • Inside, you'll find more Ruin Maniacs who specialize in Rock/Ground-type Pokémon.
    • Item: pick up the Dread Plate inside the tunnel. This item boosts the power of Dark-type moves when held by a Pokémon.
    • This tunnel eventually leads to the Ruin Maniac's Cave, which is part of a larger side quest involving Unown. You don't need to complete this now, but it's good to know its location for later.
Path Forward

After thoroughly exploring Route 214 and battling all the trainers, continue heading south. The route will naturally lead you towards the west, where you will eventually reach Valor Lakefront. This area is a resort town and a gateway to further adventures, including the next Gym challenge.
