The Poké Radar is a key item obtained from Professor Rowan after you complete the Sinnoh Pokédex (seeing all 150 Pokémon, not necessarily catching them). It allows you to find rare Pokémon and initiate 'chains' for shiny hunting.

  • How it works: Use the Poké Radar in tall grass. Four patches of grass will shake. Enter one. If it's the same Pokémon, defeat or catch it, and more patches will shake. Continue this to build a chain.
  • Shiny Patches: As your chain grows, the probability of a shiny Pokémon appearing increases. A shiny patch will sparkle distinctly.
  • Tips for Chaining: Always choose a patch that shakes in the same way (e.g., violently or gently). Avoid patches on the edge of the screen. If no suitable patches appear, walk 50 steps to recharge the radar and try again.

Shiny hunting with the Poké Radar is a time-consuming but rewarding activity for dedicated trainers looking for rare color variations of their favorite Pokémon.
